I guess one day the court could be as large as the Senate

Nothing could make the court more political.
Either the commission is Biden's way of appeasing his base, and letting the issue die, or he is serious, and this is actually an attempt to legitimize the idea. if the latter, this will not end well for the country.
That was the standard .... until 2017.
How 'bout we just keep the Court as nine justices, but require the 60 vote filibuster when the Democrats hold the majority, yet dispense with that rule when the Republicans hold the majority?
Sound good, Ned?

After 3+ years of unprecedented obstruction and slow playing by McConnell of President Obama’s nominees to the federal bench, Reid went with the nuclear option to seat judges, but clearly and unequivocally vowed to maintain the 60 vote check’n balance for the Supreme Court seats.
Since this thread is about the United States Supreme Court, consider your post as “non responsive.”
Here is the measured adult response I was hoping for:
“Conor — fair point. McConnell overplayed his hand after denying the Merrick Garland nomination, by allowing three Trump nominees to reach the bench without honoring the longstanding filibuster for SCOTUS nominees. McConnell should hold a press conference and acknowledge such, make the case for maintaining a nine justice court, and acknowledge that the filibuster rule should serve as the rule, except for the next three nominees appointed by a Democrat President. That would be the fair and equitable way to restore political balance.”
...and they would have. Further, Dems were warned by McConnel what this would mean, but they didn't care because they planned to use it for SCOTUS anyways. What they didn't count on was losing like they did in '14 and '16.
Fact.
Clearly, the concepts of "collegiality", "bipartisanship" and "common ground" are fading into the sunset when it come to the U.S. Senate...suggestions for improvement are welcome...

Just taking that from the body of your post.

Also, another constant complainer about what the board has turned into.
