Amazon was pretty famous for piling up giant losses during its first ten years. Plus, the moronic reporters seem to often confuse revenues and profits.
Are you saying their profit numbers in the table are revenues, and not profits? If so, where is your proof.
Also, are you saying that they were able to carry forward 15B losses for at least eight years? I mean, I really don't know. I just didn't think you could carry losses forward that long.
Assuming your are correct, then why would they have paid so any tax in 2014, if they had carry-forward losses that were still able to be deducted in 2018?
I'm thinking that your post might be more infantile than the article. Just a hunch.
But I give you full opportunity to explain it.

Ask any AMZN analyst and he could probably give you a detailed explanation for it. The author(s) of this article act like it is some incredible mystery that nobody could understand. Lazy.
I merely point out that they famously lost money on every sale for a very long time. Perhaps those carry forwards are still helping. They don’t expire. Mentioned merely as a trail the moron reporters could have sniffed along for five minutes.
The table at the end labeled “where Amazon makes its money” is a list of revenues from various business segments. I suspect that, given the title, the reporters don’t understand the distinction between revenues and income. Ok?
I’m not claiming to know why they are supposedly paying zero, I am mocking the lousy reporters for not bothering to figure it out. I’m channeling my inner Lehigh to tell you that I actually don’t give a shit about Amazon’s tax bill. I just hate lazy journalism.
Maybe not the point of the article, but it's my point.
The reporter just made me grumpy.
Fair enough.

federal tax regulations" but fail to appropriately mention, "but we also lobby for and then have our corporate tax lawyers write the tax code used to fuck everyone else up the ass."
I wonder what would happen if they had to include this disclaimer every time they shoveled the preceding pile of horse feces on the ignorant masses?
It would be instructive to look at the tax returns of Mr. Gates, Mr. Buffet, Mr, Cook, etc. Cosmetic progressives.
