This article discusses various aspects of tipping, but mostly now that we should be carrying around a wad of $5 bills to give out to doormen, valet parkers, bellhops. That probably doesn't sound crazy in NYC anymore, but it still feels crazy out here in the midwest.

I was at a gun show a couple weeks ago, and people there sell all kinds of other stuff. One guy had crisp $2 bills which he was selling for $3. I laughed out loud. You can get $2 bills at the bank for...$2. All you have to do is ask.
Of course, if you give out $2 bills, you will be remembered...which is good if $2 (or $4) is a good tip...but bad if $2 is too low.
If you are just using them to tip, you probably won't end up in jail...
