Society Programs of the '60's. Which by the way are grossly underfunded, and with an aging population, are heading over a cliff in the not too distant future. Don't remember anybody pissing and moaning about Obama adding $9 trillion to the debt. Oh but now, Trump is to blame for running up huge deficits. At the same time every Democrat candidate running for President can't wait to spend money we don't have - on Medicare for all, free education, reparations, and of course the $94 trillion Green New Deal. Why don't one of you recently converted Democrat budget hawks criticize these ridiculous programs being proposed? Oh you can't because it's Trump and the Republicans doing it. Well remember, Trump is not a Republican. Three years ago he was a Democrat, so deficit spending is in his blood. And the Republican's, they have been hypocrites for decades on shrinking government and deficit spending.
Oh, I forgot. No Obama, no need.
You are a dupe.
If you read any of my posts in this string you would have known that I called Republicans hypocrites and not fiscal conservatives. But you didn't, you rushed to judgement as you do with most things I assume.

During boom times it makes none.
We are adding debt now at an incredible clip during an expansion. I'm waiting for the Tea Party to complain....
The Paul Krugmans criticized it for cutting entitlements, the Grover Norquists for raising taxes. No compromise resulting in a solution seems possible.

Again why are we running these deficits and why are we still in QE with the bestest economy ever?
Can you answer those bigly questions.

You know you can be funny, see!

by the housing bubble and the sub-prime debacle, when Congress thought every American had a right to own a home even if you had no job. And Wall Street and the Bush clowns all fell in line. When the bubble burst they all looked around like dummies and no one went to jail but millions lost their homes and worth. Bush and Paulson should be in jail, along with all the Bank CEO's who knew that they were peddling shit.

Lower tax revenues (this is what created much of the deficit increase in 2009, 2010, 2011), and stimulus (tax cuts or increase spending - take your pick).
Neither is present during an expansion. This is why the deficits continually decreased under Obama.
This is fiscal policy 101, but these guys can't get that.
you blow out the budget in the early years on whoppers such as $831B for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act which was a bunch of transfer payments that added to the debt in the long run?
Do you agree that the only reason spending decreased in OBama's later years was because a Republican Congress took over and didn't give him all of his goodies?
Thanks for the highly comedic post. Satire is your thing.

budget during such times.
Orange is the self proclaimed king of debt.
Bill Clinton couldn't have signed squat. Funny how you forgot that. Remember the "Contract With America" in '94. That was the balanced budget Republicans. They don't exist anymore and Clinton would never win the Democrat nomination today. Too much of a centrist for this group.

is a joke. At least we have conservative justices who will save babies though.
The Tea Party assholes are a hypocritical joke.

No one is saying the Dems are fiscally responsible.
They are just a bit more fiscally responsible than the Republicans.
I used to think that the Republicans were 80% the deficit spenders that Democrats were. Maybe that is still safe to say, given the report that the Green New Deal is reported to cost more than the global GDP. And no conservative has justified expense by saying, "Don't worry, we'll never have to pay off our debt," as has been said here by a liberal during the Obama Administration. But, I grant you that the GOP has lost credibility on the debt issue as well. No party leaders, on either side, want fiscal responsibility. Criticizing the debt is now just meaningless political name calling,..like calling someone racist.
I'm on record as supporting cutting everything 20%. Everything. Which makes me politically homeless on this issue. But, maybe if we do that, and pay down the debt to non-world-war levels, we could spend more on climate change.

because at least they support higher taxes.
When a family is overbudget, its first response is to cut spending. As the current crop of Dem candidates show, they want to increase spending in a big way (Green Deal, reparations, Medicare for All, Universal Pre-K, etc.) even though we are overbudget.
The only person that a Democrat will deny health care to is a baby born alive by accident.
don’t matter.
