As an early "Boomer," I vividly recall how radically different we were from our parents (the "Greatest" generation)... and how THEY despaired at the future of the country, if left to us. We also railed against the capitalist system and the horrible consequences of its excesses, from environmental disasters to unjust wars to oppression of minority cultures and developing countries to an insensitivity to the plight of the poor, etc. We started a "countercluture" to replace the tired and narrow minded norms and tastes of our parents, who were appalled by our antics. The best account of this societal/political divide may have been the writings of Norman Mailer, specifically, "The Armies of the Night" and "Miami and the Siege of Chicago," which documented the '60s pseudo-revolution.
So... for those who are overly concerned by the looney tunes of AOC and her twitter minions, it is likely that these shall probably be no more consequential in the long run than were the Chicago Seven or Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters.
Oh! And Tricky Dick was easily as disturbing a President as is Trump.
I see the real issues with growth of advanced technology and AI as a problem globally. Manual labor is decreasing in every aspect of the global economy including agriculture, manufacturing, even medical. Fewer humans required and the uneducated are at a steep disadvantage. The Western world understands this and the number of children per family continues to decline while the third world population is growing and they are migrating for jobs that no longer existing in developed countries. I see the former generations as mostly political, the two World Wars and women and minority rights were mostly political. This is different and that's why the gap between the "Haves and Have Nots" continues to grow and the future looks bleak at best. It is clear to see with the young favoring Socialism and Brexit and the EU collapsing.
Both the haves and have nots who are millenials and gen-xers just seem to want as much free stuff as they can get.

William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn became mainstream and they and their cohorts understood that playing the long game by subverting the educational system was the way to eventually get what they wanted. You can see things accelerating toward not just socialism but eventually outright communism at a rapid pace because, in large part, so many kids get out of school having been indoctrinated.
I have seen this division my whole life. People go into college, some continue on to Masters and Doctorate degrees and teach at Universities. A few classmates with an entrepreneurial spirit leave early, Gates, Jobs, Zuckerberg. I went to my niece's graduation at Harvard where Gates was the commencement speaker and given an honorary doctorate. He made jokes the professors behind him had smoke coming out of their ears. So I believe there is inherent jealousy. So there is this natural tendency to preach against capitalism with professors who are basically socialist that deal with getting tenure that is decided by favoritism and ass-kissing. Not merit and once secured you are set for life.

There are these things called "external reviewers" who couldn't give a crap about "favoritism and ass-kissing."
So who you are? Or who you know? Or what positions you might have held, or how many intellectual books published that no one will read, or marrying the department head's fat ugly daughter, has no bearing on getting tenure? Watch "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?" An all time classic and one of my favorites.
You're the expert, I guess.

Who knew?
you didn't respond. Your MO is to divert attention when you know you are wrong or can't oppose with any reasonable argument, which everyone on this board knows is most of the time.

The U.S. is getting more morally bankrupt by the decade... it isn't even generational at this point.
It wasn’t all that long ago, 1988 in particular that a serial, out in the open philanderer couldn’t be prez. Clinton changed all that and paved the way for Orange.
Trump may be a piece of shit but JFK besides being a terrible husband he was a total hypocrite and his staff and reporters knew it and protected him. Those days are over and good for that.
and sexually assaulting Kathleen Willey, among others, then Trump wouldn't have come close to the Oval Office. However, Democrats voted in a rapist, and then voted for the rapist's chief enabler. Having proven that Democrats don't give two fucking shits about rape or ethics in general, they unwittedly paved the way for just about anyone to run for President. Their fault. Any Democrat who pretends to care about rape or women in general can go FT.
