Both sides know that when more people vote, Democrats benefit.
It's not that complicated.

Even if you think 16 is too young, it makes absolutely no sense to restrict 17-year-olds, who can join the military and die for their country but not vote. That's absurd.

You've grown, and during that time, you have learned to crawl, walk, run, ride a bike/skateboard/etc. all while doing so with sidewalks and roadways as part of the regular run of the day. The next logical progression is to start driving a vehicle on those roadways.
In truth, the ability to drive has become more restricted, with limits that were not in place in years past being placed on new drivers, to further acclimate them to the responsibility of driving.
The responsibility to vote is much greater than being able to properly make a left turn. You should be looking at more than what you want right now, which is what most teenagers (granted that not all are like this) are thinking about, especially in this day and age of instant self gratification. Most teenagers, hell, most adults, do not put in the work required to make an actual, educated, vote.
In truth, the voting age should probably be raised.
I would be interested in some type of evidence from you showing that someone age 17 was able to join the military and die for their country without somehow lying about their age. Maybe in the case of an emancipated youth? But the general rule is you can sign up for delayed enlistment at 17 with a parent consenting, you will then ship out to basic once done with high school (which most children are usually 18 by then, my son was an exception), and by the time you are done with basic training and tech school, you will be 18. Before you go off and die for your country. Your point about 17 year olds voting because they can join the military is not strong.

We all know the politics here. The GOP does not want to see young people vote, because they will vote wrong.
But there it is preposterous to have a kid be able to join the Marines but not be able to vote for the people who would send him abroad to die.
If i have 5 kids, I should have 5 votes. After all, the acts of the government affect my family. Why should my kids be disenfranchised like that? Doesn't seem fair.

You initially proposed an "argument" for age 16 voting by attempting to shift the burden of (dis)proof to the reader, by framing it in the form of a question.
I just did the same thing to you, to expose your lazy argument technique. (I know, I know, you are just a pigeon, shitting on the board and claiming victory.)
In response, you seem to be attempting to dismiss my argument by saying that I employ reductio ad absurdum. Is that what you were saying?
Of course, I'm not using reductio ad aburdum. If I had said, "Allowing 16 years olds to vote would lead to mass hysteria, dogs living with cats, total apocalypse," then you may have had a point (if your point was that I was using false conclusions as part of a legitimate r.a.a. attack). But, I didn't try to reduce your argument to absurdity. I merely proposed a new argument in the form of a question. I should have left it at that, but I ended up providing a few reasons to support it that I think are better than "they can drive." But, I didn't use a fallacy. Actually, by dismissing my argument as absurd or outrageous (without support), you are using fallacious argument: the fallacy that because you find a proposal to be outrageous, then the proposal must be wrong. You may be right that I'm wrong, but you are using a fallacy, and you haven't shown me to be wrong.

No reasoning required!
BTW, there are many people who believe young people shouldn't be eligible to drive until they're 18.

In Iowa you can drive at fourteen and a half...
They must pass tests to demonstrate proficiency.
They don’t just show up and pull a lever.
