To all those who served, I cannot express my gratitude. Thanks.
He argued that we never would have beat the Nazis and Japs with those restrictions. Point is... do every thing you can to win the battle before it ever begins.

Collectively, we are horrible to one another. And we are very good at rationalizing our horrid behavior and dehumanizing our victims.
Vietnam was especially bad since we not only inflicted immense pain and suffering on the "enemy", but our own soldiers. I have met several Vietnam vets that have never fully recovered, it is much worse for the Vietnamese as the documentary exposes. So sad.

Kennedy and Johnson escalated it until it was too late. Nixon bombed Hanoi, which brought NV to the Paris Peace accords. ROE were already in place by the time Nixon came into power.
You have your crown jewel (Kennedy) and his lacky Johnson to thank for the Vietnam War and its ROE. Something to be proud of, Dems.
about playing politics. And he was way better thinking about all factors on anything than the Democrats are now.
Truman was thought of a the man who lost China to the communists and no one wanted to be the president who lost SE Asia. Nixon could have ended the war we never should have entered. Early on I was a supporter with a brother and many friends over there. As years passed I read more, watch the first two episodes of Ken Burn's Vietnam and you'll learn why this was a mistake. Nixon was just like the rest, he did not want to lose SE Asia.
Ellsberg was told by McNamara to study the entire history of Viet Nam, he did and this former marine patriot became disillusioned and shocked and how EVERY president bullshitted the American people.
He tried to change this, was rebuffed and thus=The Pentagon Papers.
Nixon and Kissinger are responsible for much of the chaos that roils South America today.
Such a terrible chapter in US history.
