When there is more influx there is flooding.
There is, however, no flooding caused by pump failure which happened more than a few times when I lived there.
I couldn’t get to work until late today. Got home from the gym at about 8:00, then soon we had about a foot-deep river where our road was.
By 11 it was fine.
