Pennsylvania’s senior and Democratic Senator Bob Casey this weekend tweeted that politicians who refuse to take action to reduce gun violence "are complicit in this carnage."
“Congress’s first priority must be passing universal background checks, limiting the size of magazines and banning military-style assault weapons, among other measures,” Casey tweeted.
Casey urged McConnell to immediately call the Senate back to Washington this week to debate and vote on universal background check legislation that was passed by the House in February.
Enough. We don’t have to live like this. Politicians who refuse to take action to reduce gun violence are complicit in this carnage. If we’re going to truly confront this uniquely American problem, we have to speak uncomfortable truths.

The Democratic-led House in February approved the first major new firearm restrictions bill to advance in that chamber in years. The Senate has taken no action on the proposed legislation, which would require background checks for all gun sales and most gun transfers.
based on how a gun looks without regard to the caliber or capabilities of the said gun.
Better defining language can also be used.
Bottom line, a universal background check system is a good thing to anyone other than a nut.
i also think there should be some visibility into a juvenile's record, which my understanding is that those are sealed. A juvenile that has shown the mindset to commit such an act (i.e. a rape list and hit list) and it is documented in a juvenile record, that record should be visible in the background check process up through a certain number of years at a minimum.
If that didn't lead to massive bans, nothing would.
We'll see, though. Things change.

It shall be unlawful for any person who is not a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer to transfer a firearm to any other person who is not so licensed, unless a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer has first taken possession of the firearm for the purpose of complying with subsection (s). I HAVE LITTLE ISSUE HERE, YET IT'S REALLY LIP SERVICE. IF A CRIMINAL BUYS A GUN FROM ANOTHER CRIMINAL, HOW DOES THIS LIMIT ANYTHING?
“(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to—
“(A) a law enforcement agency or any law enforcement officer, armed private security professional, or member of the armed forces, to the extent the officer, professional, or member is acting within the course and scope of employment and official duties; ARMED PRIVATE SECURITY PROFESSIONAL? I'D LIKE TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW THESE PEOPLE ARE LICENSED.
“(B) a transfer that is a loan or bona fide gift between spouses, between domestic partners, between parents and their children, including step-parents and their step-children, between siblings, between aunts or uncles and their nieces or nephews, or between grandparents and their grandchildren, if the transferor has no reason to believe that the transferee will use or intends to use the firearm in a crime or is prohibited from possessing firearms under State or Federal law; NO ISSUE, BUT REALLY DOESN'T GUARANTEE ANYTHING.
ULTIMATELY, I DON'T KNOW IF THIS REALLY DOES MUCH TO STOP CRIMINALS. I'D ALSO LIKE TO UNDERSTAND THE PENALTIES. FOR INSTANCE, IF SOMEONE SELLS A GUN WITHOUT CONDUCTING A BACKGROUND CHECK, WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES? IS THE PERSON TRIED LIKE THE EVENTUAL SHOOTER? IT FEELS GOOD BUT OFFERS LITTLE IN THE WAY OF STOPPING THE SHOOTINGS.

reps looking to set up the senate rather than really crafting a bi-partisan bill.
Ignoring it is the sniveling cowards way out.
up, because it's clear the democrats really don't care about this issue for the following reasons....(all noted by CC72 and me). The senate welcomes the opportunity to craft a bi-partisan, comprehensive bill that offers increased security to Americans. What the House has submitted to us is a childish attempt at checking the box with little ability to address the myriad of issues at play.
there? Pathetic. You guys really are crazy.

It’s really not that hard unless you are kowtowing to the gun lobby.
to find someone else willing to sell them a gun that isn't registered anyway.
