Oh, the hazards of cobbling together a coalition of the oppressed, when the factions of the oppressed just aren't down with the other factions.

He's against the DH.
I hope that we can all get behind the mayor on this.

“It’s a heavy lift in the black church,” says Darby, who is also a Charleston-area NAACP leader. “Just as nobody who is racist likes to say, ‘I’m a racist,’ nobody who is homophobic in the black community likes to say, ‘I’m homophobic.’”
And when God's word is God's word, I still can't find God saying homosexuals are full of sin, and should be ostracized.
others, in this case, and predictably, "Republicans."
There are numerous biblical verses that make it quite clear that homosexual behavior is sinful. Unsurprisingly, at least to me, is that the denominations that make all these retreats and adaptations to modern, secular, political demands, bleed membership. The ones that want to make Christianity adapt to modern, stylish, cultural preferences, like my own denomination.
Perhaps you caught in the news this summer the controversy with the United Methodist Church? The Methodists essentially held a referendum on this issue. It was agreed upon. The worldwide members chose not to go down the road of giving the church's blessing to same-sex marriage and all the other LGBT stuff that goes along with it. The vote was decided by the African members, who overwhelmingly opposed it, along with a minority of more conservative United Methodists. It appears that the Methodists who favor church-sanctioned gay marriage will eventually break away. The church can survive without them, and should, if they decide to proceed with their temper tantrum. What it can't survive is trying to bend the word of God to political demands of modernity. The people who seek something transcendent, apart from the secular, have little reason to join a church if all it becomes is a regurgitator of secular dogma, like the kind you spot. They can just come to a place like this or others to get that garbage. But what I find especially rich is the spectacle of progressive white people ignoring, primarily, the will of a whole lot of black people, who have "backwards," "unsophisticated" ideas. Predictably, these progressives blame it on the minority of mostly Southern, more conservative United Methodists rather than turning their ire on the African members who drove the vote against LGBT-ification.
The progressives were willing to submit to the vote, but only if it went their way in the end. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? I wish folks like you would lecture them about their unsophistication and give them your sophisticated understanding of the Bible and of what proper cultural values should be.
the homophobic type - Just read this board. It's about 100% R's equal homophobic and we'll include Xenophobic.
So no, there's no blame - it's just fact.
Predictable is your defense of R's as homophobic.
Just for your information, I voted straight Democratic in the last batch of national, state and local elections, save for county sheriff. I note this to get rid of the usual fallacious tactics that folks like you use. But even if I was a loyal Republican, that wouldn't change the accuracy of my analysis. Instead of dealing in an intelligent manner, you foolishly think you can extinguish it by attaching a label to me which is supposed to end the analysis.
A full one-quarter of Democrats aren't down with gay marriage. That's actually a lot people within the party. You will find that they take positions similar to mine on other "social issues." Many of them are Catholic. Folks like you make it more and more difficult to remain Democrats as you push the kind of stuff that you push.
Are all those black folks in Africa "homophobic?" They're all afraid of their own homosexual desires? Are you going with that? Could you provide some research on "homophobia?"
I'm sure I wrote America.

How does it feel to get over your head in a discussion this flippin' quickly?

I think that crazier actress, Charlize Theron, whom I had to look up because all these actresses are interchangeable, also has a pipeline. The difference with her is that she turns kids into "transgender" children, just to make life a bit tougher for them, since being orphaned wasn't sufficient and because it transfers some oppression cache to her via osmosis. Wikipedia says she's big-time down with gay marriage, so I think Mayor Pete should give her a call, instead.
