Hmm.
“Hey Conor…. we are color blind. We just want the most qualified and learned judges available to sit on the Court. It ought not be a quota system. Just give us the best of the best.”
Gag me.
Newsflash: There are many qualified judges who are well suited to sit on the Supreme Court. Race, gender, religion …. does not make a prospective judge more or less qualified to sit on the Supreme Court. [Predictably, certain posters (not you) assume a black female judge is unqualified].
The United States Constitution gives a President wide discretion in his nominations. Some posters criticize Biden for narrowing his pool of candidates to black females. But, the decision is grounded in Biden’s commitment (ala Reagan in 1980) that the Court needs a black female jurist — not because of a lack of other terrific options, — but because adding a black female to the Court for the first time in US history, hopefully widens the nation’s respect for the Court’s rulings. How Americans perceive the Court’s authority is paramount.
We want a diverse Court — both as to jurisprudence of the individual jurists, and the faces of the jurists. President Biden is trying to achieve that objective with this nominee.

There are many qualified judges out there. If he chooses someone unqualified, then you’ll have a point.
Have done it before?
Certainly, it has happened before, certainly not everyone….but come on.
But I also figure that - as long as their are highly qualified black women judges - that fair is fair.

The shit thing is that door swings both ways. Pubs will be looking for the next opportunity to exact revenge.
Round and round we go...
Because discrimination was ok in the past, they feell justified in doing it now.
And yet, two wrongs definitely don't make a right here, and they are dividing society with their efforts.
But it's absolutely justified in their minds. Look at Quests response! He said the quiet part out loud.
Just curious.
We can agree to disagree, I guess.
You'll hate it but it's a great point. Joe's an asshole...
"Hate to break it to you but the only black person serving on the Supreme Court today was personally attacked, defamed and slandered by Joe Biden before he voted AGAINST him."

He doesn't sexually harass anyone. And if he did the press would never report it anyway.
Joe's an asshole.

Obviously, you think new sexism and new racism are the proper answer old sexism and old racism.
As for me, I would rather we judge people by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin or the nature of their genitalia. Call me crazy, but I'm a big supporter of Martin Luther King, Jr. I just wish the Democrats supported his views as well.
It was a stupid thing for Biden to say. He should have said he would pick the best jurist, and then picked a black woman. But, that's not what he said. He's a moron.
course he thinks FDR was sexist, just as he thinks every white man is.

Sorry. I can't help reminding them that their own party thinks they are stupid.

Not looking to rule or govern fairly or justly. No, it's a drive to address perceived ancient wrongs perpetrated by "the man".
They are NOT the enlightened lot they like to think they are.
