Who goes to that place? How is that business still afloat?
I'd genuinely rather eat at a Taco Bell, Captain D.'s, or Burger King than an Applebee's, unless I needed beer.
No idea. Wouldn’t go to any of them...

They have their place in the dining hierarchy for families with young kids.

Living in Manhattan has its advantages and good even great restaurants are a plus factor.
When out of town I seek a higher quality establishment.

but it's popular. Here in Tampa I don't know how many there are, but there are a lot of them. My wife and daughter like them. The get deep-fried chicken fingers that you can get anywhere. I haven't been to one in years.
I think I went to a Golden Corral once. I don't remember it, but I have no desire to go again.
For chain restaurants, Smokey Bones and Chilis are about the best. Neither is special.
Another place where you could take three young ones and have a beer.

Annoying store and countryfied bullshit, though.
But yes, Applebee's sucks.
Duff's. It had these rotating serving cases. More like troughs. Diners would get in line to heap the glorified cafeteria food on their plates. Because the troughs rotated, you were put into a weird competition to load up your plate before it shifted, so you'd be jostling with the other hogs to get your share.
When they put the fresh desserts out it reminded me of feeding the cattle on the farm, the exact same walk and everything. Eery.
