At my past job, however, we did fire a guy for demanding over the top gifts from a supplier. And, we wrote an article about it that was published in an ethics journal. Total disclosure.
Just tonight, I got 3 golf balls with the vendor's name on them, and a notebook and pen with the vendor's name. Pretty awesome, huh? Why would I ever think about using one of their competitors for the same services.
Rules and ethics are for losers.
Isn’t that the America you seemingly prefer?
We don't live by Stalin's principle of "Show me the man, and I'll show you the crime." We don't have to ask, "Which party is he" before we can know which punishment to apply for, say, "lying to the FBI," or "lobbying without a license."
If you set a low bar for yourself, and a high bar for your opponent, people recognize you for what you are, a hypocrite...even as you scream hypocrite at the other side for not living by that higher bar that you demand only of them. I prefer a high bar for all, but if a low bar is demanded by my opponent for themselves, then they cannot legitimately criticize my candidate for not living by a higher standard.
right?
