crime is needed for impeachment.

His comment was not on point with the Clinton impeachment, and he can easily dismiss or distinguish that comment if he wants to do so.
But, I agree with McConnell's and Dershowitz's suggestion that even if a strict statutory crime is not required, it should be the norm, and the accused act should be "crime-like."
Even so, putting a strict definition on what is impeachable or not is probably a bad idea for the Republic. I would let the House say what is impeachble (and rely on their discretion), as we have just done. And, I would let Dershowitz argue regarding what is convictable, as he seems to be doing.
political gain.
Your shuffle on this one is impressive though.
You seem to misinterpret my post as defending Trump. I'll leave that to Dershowitz, et al. Re-read my post. I just predicted what Dershowitz might say to that article (and provided an analogy to a legal argument, since he and you are lawyers). I then said what I believe (different from his statement at the article you linked, but similar to more recent statements by McConnel and dershowitz), which is that impeachment is basically whatever the House wants it to be...there should be guidelines, but that is just a "should," not a "must."
his obvious inconsistency. If there was ever a situation that calls for impeachment under his 1998 standard it’s this one.
He has zero credibility.
Frankly, I think Giuliani has less.
Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. He should be censured like Clinton should have been. To that extent, I haven’t been impressed by Schiff, Nadler et al. They are motivated solely by politics not some abstract love of the constitution.
But this pablum that he didn’t order the code red, or that he was concerned with corruption, or that it isn’t an impeachable offense is utter BS.

Schumer, Nadler, Pelosi and Mad Maxine all have had Impeachment rants thrown back in their faces. It will just bounce off of all of them and they will move on. People in Washington don't care what they have said in the past. It's what is important for them at that moment.
