He was definitely voting for the candidate who would most tear down the establishment, in his view.
Don't get me wrong. I think he is a fool, since those are two very different ways to take down the establishment, and how could someone be for both of them. But, apparently those types of people exist. The mere public recognition of their distress would be enough to draw many of those people in...to either side. The mainstream better get its act together.
though.
Most of the Orange supporters I know aren’t the rally crazies. One actually voted for Barry. The rest are conservative but not nutso. The fact that they are otherwise normal is what gets my attention.

The interviewee talks about an "Alienated America"...effectively, a divided America. This is an important point, I think.
The countries the democratic socialists want us to imitate (e.g., the Scandanavian countries) are not divided. I don't think socialist policies that may have worked over there (which I concede solely for the sake of argument here), will actually work over here. We are a different nation.
social institutions is a part of the problem, they were and are much of the problem. People who joined or were/are a part of the those
institutions create and foster divisions in society. That's why they begin in the first place. Hate for queer people, women are the lesser sex,
wealth and the disparity of economics. Dislike for other philosophies, color and so on. bigotry, discrimination and hate are baked into these institutions even though
they're not part of their doctrine.
I think the answer is quite simple. Trump appeals to the anger, hate, stupidity, and laziness in America and Americans. He was given a podium against 20 other candidates
who wouldn't have made the first cut in the D party of candidates and that was 22 strong. Jeb Bush was your best candidate and he was soft. Trump like Palin appealed
to the lowest in America and that's why they're popular. If Palin was a male, McCain would have been POTUS.
do not belong. Who knew Hillary posted here.
You are not in the majority
HRC was right, Deplorable - she was just wrong in saying it as a candidate for POTUS.

I live in a fairly foofoo suburb outside Detorit, but this is on the edge of farm land and tiny villages. I go for extremely long bikes rides in this countryside. I never thought Trump had a chance in the last election until I began to see a constant parade of Trump signs along my rides. These communities are fairly disconnected from the Yuppie world I live in and are probably filled with Hillary's deplorables. I can see where maybe they weren't regular voters in the past. On the other hand, Trump really took this state in a former Democrat stronghold of Macomb county, which is filled with workers in the auto industry. They don't fit the mold in this article. Hillary should have carried them but she preferred to campaign with her Ivy League elites and on the issues they favor. Those don't go down well with union families. Neither will taking away the medical coverage that their unions fought hard for over the decades.
Rural America. Even live on a farm which of course I don’t farm. But some of my neighbors and friends do. Know lots of them well through youth sports.
Almost all of them are trumpies and almost all are good peeps. I’m still trying to understand what attracts such people to an asshole like Orange, but the simplistic explanations don’t hunt to use a term popular in those parts.
did in these institutions and from generations of drilling it home at home by parents and family.
We're all good at church in fact we're all almost saints - Holy water dippin', Bible prayin,' Lord lovin' and Jesus genuflectin'.
Losin' the being PC for acting out.
This county has a long, long history of being bigoted, and fearful of others that don't look like us.
We can run but obviously, we can't hide.
I wouldn’t say most.
This is like labeling all progressives on the left of the party as commies or Antifa.
We label way too much.
