virus would be spread between athletes from different locations?
It is absurd.

But a gathering of 50 people is less risk than indoor gatherings of thousands. Surely you recognize this or do you get all your info on this topic from Trump's tweets?

this moronic cocksucker, right? Bet you feel smart now, huh? LMMFAO.
....and disrupted my family's life significantly. Yes, I'm pissed. Sorry.
And of course, you have a long history of posting negative things about Trump. You loathe him, and it colors your judgment.

and the stock market to shoot back up. I like my life (which was good before Trump) much more than I despise Trump.
It is without question that Trump had a very cavalier attitude (putting it mildly) at the beginning of this thing and continued to have it until last night. His tweets are his unfiltered thoughts and represent his true opinions.

The solution is simple, test and quarantine and it will go away. Trump's solution is to downplay it, which has continued to backfire.

Not absurd at all. Young people are low risk for acquiring the virus, even if they catch it, it is merely an inconvenience.
Reminder - the Swine Flu killed over 12,000 Americans and didn't cause anywhere close to the panic of the coronavirus.
should be cancelled. Your argument about the athletes being “low risk” ignores the fact that they will then go home to their family and friends who will have high risk members.
I personally see the infection as inevitable. The only advantage to restricting events is to buy time for response from the medical community and pharmaceutical industry. But that will be at the cost of everyone’s way of life, and it may not be helpful anyways.
Logically, we should either go “all in” or not bother with such half measures.
Slowing is just as important as totally preventing spread to prevent our health care facilities from being totally overwhelmed.
....after the players, the coaches, and the trainers from both teams, you have the refs and their back ups, the camera crews, the production team, the announcers, the stadium personnel, the guards, and my favorite...................limited number of family members of the players and coaches.
I am not even listing all of the people, but it far exceed the 50 limit mentioned.
Which one is higher risk?
Darn that Trump!!!!!!
By your logic, everyone should be quarantined. Anything else is a half-measure.
That's just not the case. A NCAA basketball game to an empty stadium does not seem more dangerous than leaving the house and going to the grocery store.
This thread may be moot, however, since they may very well cancel all games after all.
panic option, then at least do it logically. Either do t do it, or do it so that it might make a difference (however little it may be).
It's reasonable and consistent to ban the fans, and play the games.
But they're not going to do that either.

It gets pretty weird from there, especially if a few teams have to forfeit.
They'll just have to do it.

Slowing the spread, even if spread is inevitable, is important.
his knowledge comes from what he just heard from CNN. I am telling to that the B-ball games, given what it takes to put them on and the loop hole made for family members to go to games, will not be i. Compliance with best practices.
It was never designed to be binary or completely prophylactic. We can't avoid all spread, but we can delay it.
The NCAA proposal (which may be in jeopardy anyway) is designed to weigh the benefits of social distancing-like policies (avoiding 50,000 in the same room), with avoiding complete economic disaster (losing a billion dollars just to avoid having 300 people in a large stadium or arena).
and not societies as a whole.

That is beyond insulting.
Life goes on. Play the games, give us something to cheer for.
I'm on airplanes every week. I'll be flying home tonight. LOVING the less-crowded airports and planes. I'm glad my employer and clients haven't gone 'all in'.
We'll get through this. In the meantime, I'll keep flying and buying cheap stocks.
Oh, and GO FLYERS!
