Think about it. The whole country is being asked to mortgage the future for the sake of keeping boomers alive. I am one of them. What's ironic is that we are the children of the greatest generation who were willing to storm the beaches of Normandy for us! If' only they knew how we would turn out.

The entire hospital system is about to get swamped with people needing specialized and intensive care. It’s not just boomers. Plenty of 20 and 30 year olds will be drowning in their own phlegm as well. The point of social distancing is not to save boomers. It’s to save the health care system from collapse. So, when you fall and break your hip hopefully someone can actually help you. Stop with the stupid whining.
As of March 16, a total of 4,226 COVID-19 cases in the United States had been reported to CDC, with multiple cases reported among older adults living in long-term care facilities (4). Overall, 31% of cases, 45% of hospitalizations, 53% of ICU admissions, and 80% of deaths associated with COVID-19 were among adults aged ≥65 years with the highest percentage of severe outcomes among persons aged ≥85 years. In contrast, no ICU admissions or deaths were reported among persons aged ≤19 years. Similar to reports from other countries, this finding suggests that the risk for serious disease and death from COVID-19 is higher in older age groups.
as of right now, the US has ~19000 active cases. Of those, sixty-fucking-four are serious. That comes out to about 0.33%, and it has been stuck around 60 for a few days. Just ten days ago (Mar 10), the CFR was about 3.3%. Today, it is between 1.3-1.4%, and falling toward 1% each day, even though the amount of active cases keeps increasing daily (hello, more testing). The number of active cases can keep on rising all it wants. If the serious or critcial number stays low, and the CFR keeps dropping like it has, then this supposed overwhelming of the hospitals in this country will never materialize.
time and resources. That's a big problem when you consider the projections for the total numbers of people who will become infected and display symptoms, even if those symptoms don't keep them in hospitals for extended stays.
They are being referred to as "Mild" cases. The vast majority of those cases are people that are showing virtually no symptoms or symptoms mild enough that no hospitalization is needed and are being told to self-isolate. Just because you are a confirmed case doesn't mean you are being hospitalized.
non-serious instruments, all while devoting that big wad of non-serious time to examining the non-serious patients?
Brilliant. I think you need to go back to the drawing board, Boyd.
Of course, you would know more.

My sister is a dietician for the Oncology Department at a hospital in Maine. They deal with those with compromised immune systems. Most of their attendings are quarantined because of exposure to the virus. Residents doing most of the treatment. They are overwhelmed dealing with the non corona patients. They are concerned with maintaining basic services to these patients. The idiocy of people in this nation is breathtaking
