Surely, you are not the worst offender. But, seriously, just take a 2 week quarantine from politics, and just hope something good happens instead of looking for bad things you can score points on.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo praised the president's handling of the coronavirus outbreak during a press conference Wednesday, saying "we're fighting the same war... we're in the same trench."

that the initial cases overwhelmed their system which is exactly what they are trying to prevent here.
“Higher fatality rates in China, Iran, and Italy are more likely associated with a sudden shock to the healthcare system unable to address demands and doesn’t accurately reflect viral fatality rates.”

I think a more useful statistic would be for all state health departments in the US start reporting the number/percentage of hospital beds utilized and of those how many are due to respiratory issues and then the percent of ICU beds used for respiratory diseases.
I also wonder how many hospital beds are actually available per year because I know many hospitals that have been shut down.
The problem has been recognized. So other than social distancing and use of soap and cleanliness, why shut down almost the entire US economy for an undisclosed time period?
I do wonder why we need the tests other than for research purposes. It doesn't change how they treat you.
That made me spew diet coke all over my keyboard.

That’s what this is about.
That’s what happened in Italy and early in China before they took drastic measures.
Manageable.
My question is whether the risk of overwhelming the system is real. If so unfortunately what they are doing is likely necessary.
I say this as a small bidness owner with 2 payrolls (30 days) in the future covered and not much beyond uncertainty after that. My investments and retirement have also taken a severe pasting. Are we our brother’s keeper?

that using their numbers and our numbers in comparison
So, is it hysteria or prudence to follow the shut down where it has made a difference? As shown by the two charts just before
you reach this one.
it has to include, among several other variables, cases per capita to get a more accurate idea.
But I think what is the concern is the inability to test and the quickness the numbers of those in US is rising with so few tested.
That's why we project along side of Italy and Spain. When they finally got their shit together, it was late in the game - same here in US
