....perhaps we can get back to work sooner rather than later. This is the reason that Trump’s Team was e pressing hope at Thursday’s press conference.

People using it as evidence of going back to work earlier are sabotaging its basic assumption.
....the downward revision is so large and dramatic that it offers the hope that this epidemic may not be as threatening as was originally assumed (Trump’s Team was careful to point out that while this might be good news, the original estimates could hold true if there are a massive number of people testing positive that we are as yet unaware exist and so for now the recommendation is for continued social distancing while data is collected. And the new Abbot Lab tests just made available and being shipped should provide that data shortly).
The Left is so naturally suspicious of Trump that even when he tries to merely present optimism and a stiff upper lip, the Left jumps down the road to assume he is irresponsibly saying to “go back to work now” and risking lives.
At the same time, there is also an economic impact and damage that has to be weighed into the equation as well. Should the threat of the virus be less, the. Those other concerns start to weigh in more.
There has to be end point planning, and we have a good leader to do that. Whatever decision is made, there will be either examples of unnecessary deaths or unnecessary economic ruin. We make this decision all of the time with other diseases and infections, this should be no different.
Nobody has suggested that we should go back to work based on the downward IC revision, but the real experts have said that it is a potentially great sign. If the day comes where the decision to go out is made for less affected areas, you may feel free to exercise your right as an American to hole up in a bunker with your toilet paper until after the election, and if this hopeful news depresses you, then I am sorry.
