Once we are past the peak (mid-April) we can start the conversation. For now, hunker down and shut up.

that if corroborated, could lead to that recommendation in low case areas soon.
Are you smart enough to understand this difference? Because it seems not so far.
If the virus is found to be less dangerous, then the discussion weighing the devastation to our economy and way of life vs this virus will be discussed. I am sure your opinion will be determined by your politics, but the doctors will advise.
But, believe it or not, he did say he wanted everything lifted by Easter....which will be before the peak has passed.
Also, WestCoast, Curly and Eli have all advocated for ending restrictions now.
Sweden, only restrict minority like the elderly and people with compromised health...not most healthy people. I strongly against shutdown. Companies can arrange their employees this way, 50% of them come to work on Mon, Wed and Fri, the other 50% come work on Tue, Thurs and Sat. . I support this kind of approaches. I hope you can understand my position fully and accurately.
BTW, this WoPo political reporters' piece is empty in substances, purely BS.

risk areas.
He said that he hoped that they might be lifted by then, and he based that on what his doctors were telling him.
He is trying to instill hope as a good leader should. He is also paving the way to start transitioning back to normalcy as soon as possible.
As a liberal, government shut down of your personal freedoms and work might be a dream come tru, but this has been very traumatic, and potentially lethal to our economy. The longer we wait, the more danger that the economy does not recover. Unless you are hoping this kills the capitalist system so that socialism can finally take over our great country, then waiting to too long to come back to work is a very big concern.
One has to balance the impact that shutting down everything in our country has against the health risk of an epidemic that might soon be shown to be much less than expected, and for which the exposure to everyone is inevitable anyways.
The absolute ONLY reason for social distancing is to delay and spread out exposures so as not to overwhelm our hospital system. Once that risk is gone, we should go back to normal and allow the advantages of Herd Immunity in the healthy population to take effect while continuing to quarantine those at high risk only.
Dr. Fauci in particular refuted this quickly, which is why he's not allowed in front of the camera anymore.
......stop being so miserable and full of hate for the guy. Stop assuming every word he says is a lie or has an ulterior motive. Stop hearing what you expect to hear rather than what is really said. And above all, stop watching cable news because they are feeding your illness in this regard.
One of the reasons that I am so frequently defending Trump against you guys is because of your constant unfair spin.
I assume that you want to have things fall apart for the rest of the world since they did for you when Trump was elected, but it isn’t going to happen that way. Trump has proven to be a good leader, and he is going to get us back on our feet after this natural disaster.
It was about the people on this board and in my community griping about the current restrictions b/c the virus is no big deal.
Second, I don't have cable and haven't watched cable news in 10 years.
Third, The notion that I want the entire world to go to shit just to spite Trump is really, really insulting. What I want is for my vulnerable loved ones to be safe. We used to have good political arguments BVZ, but that crosses a line.
overwhelming the medical system is over, then moving to a model of quarantining at risk people rather than everyone makes sense. Then we not only save the economy, but we begin to work on Herd Immunity.with our low risk population.

What is wrong with him having hope that it can happen? You sound like the reporter who was questioning him on having a positive outlook on things. If he was standing up there with a doom and gloom outlook, he would be hammered for not being more positive.
"Stock Market looking good!" - followed by crash
"Malaria drugs work" - followed by study that showed they don't and people taking them anyway and dying by OD'ing on them.
"This is no worse than the flu" - followed by people not social distancing early on, which could have slowed the spread.
"This will go away when temps warm" - followed by New Orleans and Florida surges despite 80 degree weather
Every time he gives false hope, he puts more Americans at risk. He should be honest with the American people about the gravity of the situation. It shouldn't be hard.
