Looks like TR wrote the same type of letter to get his guys out of Cuba and death by Malaria.

Maybe he can write his own history of his command, like TR did. Granted, I've made no effort to read any of the articles posted about him, but I don't get the rush to lionize the guy.
Didn't see you as a TR man. He was kind of the Trump of his day, don't you think?

Crack open a book on the man, there are many.
Can’t think of anything more un Trump like.
Because of his round robin letter, the War Dept. squashed his CMOH which was given posthumously.
Nothing much changes in the military. There are still leaders and bureaucrats.
I'm no expert, and I don't care enough to do much research on this, but at least the Wikipedia entry makes a lot of room for someone with TRDS: It states that Roosevelt fought on Kettle Hill, and when he tried to move to San Juan Hill, he was chastised for the move, and "angrily ordered" to return to Kettle Hill, at which point his horse and men were too exhausted to fight. He did make it to the top of San Juan Hill after it was taken...after all, they were taking a picture there...and then he proceeded to circulate a photo which cropped out other units, showing only his unit there.
They outnumbered the Spanish several times over, and yet they suffered 5 times as many casualties.
Granted, it was an attack against a fortified position, so I don't fault that...in fact, I don't fault any of the above. Sounds like a typical battle, full of confusion and mayhem...thousands of things that could have been done better, ripe for criticism by armchair generals. But, if Trump claimed to have won San Juan Hill when he didn't, and was in fact chastised for "deserting" another position, you would fault that behavior, not lionize a fake version of it.
And, can you imagine if Trump, like Roosevelt, ordered the Navy on a world tour without enough money to get them back? What would you be saying about Trump if he did that? I think we all know.
I'm not saying Roosevelt isn't a hero, or a great president. I am saying he has an absolute force of nature, both as president, and as a private citizen...like Trump...both're pretty much the opposite of Biden. Many criticisms and praise can be legitimately lobbed in TR's direction...and if he were Trump, I think we know what you would be lobbing at him.
That was Kettle Hill, part of the San Juan Heights. The Regulars attacked the other hill, San Juan and has a much tougher time. They took that eventually as well.
Donald Trump got 5 deferments to military service, the last for bone spurs. He said his Vietnam was fighting VD.
To compare them is laughable. Roosevelt had a life of public service including the military before the presidency. Trump had a life of bankruptcy, reality TV, snd screwing over small businesses before he got there. Only you would try to compare them.
Obviously, I agree with you that TR at least served, and that is to be preferred, all other things considered. Of course, that wasn't the comparison I was making. Both were/are, essentially, bulls in a china closet.
But note: My initial comparison was Crozier to young TR. The Trump-TR comparison (which is still legit in some respects, as discussed) was an afterthought...kind of just to get you going, which it did. And, obviously, you give TR the benefit of the doubt, but not Trump, even though TR basically wrote the history which you repeated unquestioningly.
Only you could compare TR with Trump. No validity there.
The comparison with Crozier goes only to the letters that they wrote. There it’s valid. The rest of what you are saying is just distracting gibberish.

You need to read some history.
