Boy, I sure do have a bunch of them on my Facebook feed. But the CDC never said to wear them "all the time" when in public. How their recommendation got twisted into that is a lesson in politicians, businesses and the public lack basic comprehension skills. From its website: "CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures difficult to maintain."
From WHO's website: "If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with COVID-19. Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing."
Finally, Eli Perencevich, a professor of medicine and epidemiology at the University of Iowa’s College of Medicine, says, “The average healthy person does not need to have a mask, and they shouldn’t be wearing masks. There’s no evidence that wearing masks on healthy people will protect them."
That or this long hippy hair I am adapting into.
If you get within 10 feet of me, and you are not wearing one, then I will shoot you in self-defense.

It's about protecting those in public around you....unless you have a superpower of never sneezing, ever, even during allergy season.

....I would explain why your surgery analogy is misplaced and incorrect, but I have determined that you wouldn’t understand it anyways.

They are yesterday's high school hall monitors, only today they broadcast their righteousness on social media.

It wasn’t that bad. People knew you were joking.
More though that it didn’t come off quite in the way I was after....
You have to remember that our behavior should depend on where we are. I am in an area with very few cases, and masks are mostly optional, although encouraged, and if I see one, I will throw mine on...but if no one is wearing them, I won't bother. Some stores require them, and my family honors that. Other people live in cities which have high numbers of cases, which are panicking, and everyone should wear a mask in those cities.
Pandemic.
They are selfish, self centered bastards.
Not for health reasons, but social ones. It makes the old people feel better if you have one on.
My town is not mask crazy - nobody has them on in the park or running - but it’s something easy to do to help people who are really anxious these days.
