Thank god these fine people are liberating all these TVs and other stuff from Target. But thank good most were wearing masks so they didn’t spread the Chinese virus. Protest all you want and be heard. Rioting and stealing shit isn’t the answer.

It's highly problematic.
AutoZone? Well, it's filled with hayseeds from Cow Country who vote for white male colonialistic hegemonic oppression.

This case is really no different than Eric Garner. The cops will say he was resisting arrest and they were just following their training. I'd be shocked if any are convicted of murder....and the acquittal will be followed by more riots. We've seen this movie before.
The store security footage doesn't appear to show resisting, but we don't have continuous video of the event yet.

The frightening thing is, how much of this bullshit went on before we had cameras. A lot of it, I'm sure. I suspect people learned to show total submissiveness to cops in the past, and any one who didn't bow and scrape "got what they deserved."
On the one hand, I think cops abuse their power all the time, and they should be punished for it, and they often aren't, which is why they do it all the time..
On the other hand, they are provoked into it as well. I think when a cop is making an arrest, the arrestee should go into a "yes sir...no sir" mode. The decision to arrest has been made, and there is no way to make that change. I tell all my kids: "There will be a time to tell your side of the story, and that time will be in court after I've hired your lawyer...that time is not while you are being arrested." The fact that more people don't raise their kids that way is surprising to me. I'm not saying the cops are always right to my kids; I'm saying there is a time to prove the cops wrong, and there is a time to show them respect even if they don't deserve it...recognize what time it is, and act accordingly.

In this case, I don't know what this guy was doing. It didn't look like he was resisting in the little video I saw (before they had the knee on him). Not sure why the knee went on his neck; don't know if it was pure power-monger sadism on the part of the cop (seems improbable, but certainly possible), or if the arrestee started resisting during a time in which we don't yet have video.
I don’t know of any use of force or restraint police policy or training that allows for a knee on the neck when the guy is proned out and already handcuffed. Been involved with writing and reviewing a few.
Another problem is the length of it which may allow for an inference malicious intention.
Again, you just can’t tell on something this serious until an investigation is complete. Even the lowest criminal in this country is entitled to that and due process.
Not physically resisting, but acting erratically. His intoxication will be used to assassinate his character, justify the police behavior and the cops will skate. These things always play out the same way. Initially everyone is shocked and appalled.. Then the police union puts out their spin and enough of the population eats it up (including the mostly white jury) that there is never any real change.
Of course the irony of the cop death by kneeling and Colin K's kneeling will not be noticed by those that think that police brutality is not a real problem.
Everyone gets due process except the cops in the current climate. Why don’t they just lynch all 4? What the community apparently wants.
Having said that, the video looks very bad for the kneeling cop. It’s contrary to all training and policy on restraint and it went on for awhile.
Pure guess is that he may well be guilty of manslaughter. Maybe more, but again let’s see what is turned up before boiling the tar and getting the feathers out of the pillow.
I think police brutality is a real problem, just for the record.
I would think you would get sobered up real quick if you were pulled over, especially if you were 59 years old...so he must have been very intoxicated. His passengers seemed sober...why the hell weren't they driving.
He served his time and was released, so that shouldn't matter, but it will only be a matter of time before the "world is better off without him" crowd surfaces.

Do you ever reflect upon why millions of Americans like you and I can correctly forecast riots before they happen? Why do you think that is?

So much of what you believe about policing and race is wrong and fed by a media that conceals many things and misrepresents others.
The kneeling cop was known to be an avid Trump supporter, btw.
I mean, I know Maxine Waters does, but do thinking people believe that? Some here would not like it if I made a habit of posting a daily dose. There's more than a bit of cognitive dissonance going on in the heads of liberals when it comes to race. Having to listen to
People that wear MAGA hats tend to believe that racism doesn't exist in 2020...or if it does it whites are more likely to be the victim of it. Until our dominant culture admits to and addresses racism in the criminal justice system these things will continue.
You are an outlier in that you don't support Trump, but still don't think racism is real.
Saw a poll that 44% of R’s think Bill Gates is going to implant tracking devices into people through vaccines.
One in Five people say they won’t take the COVID vaccine if it is developed.
And the left crazies all know that cops hate black people, and wake up every morning wanting to kill one. They deserve no due process and should be lynched.
And I think only a very small minority of white cops are racists (likely including the guy that did the kneeling on Floyd's neck). That said, this whole situation is (very sadly) not surprising at all, b/c those racists cops aren't ever held accountable, are backed up 100% by the police union and their supporters.
Rodney King (who a lot of whites still think deserved a beating) was how long ago? Nothing has changed since then.
What I am suggesting is that the race element in general often is overplayed in these incidents.
You can tell me for a fact that a 6’6” white guy who was intoxicated and belligerent wouldn’t have been treated that way? I can’t say that, and the reason is I have seen shit as bad as what’s on that tape and worse with no racial elements involved. Say it did happen to a white guy, would that make it better because the cop wasn’t a racist?
The incompetence along with the bias of much of the media is incredible also.
My answer would be, I don’t know.
Not saying it doesn't happen. I'm legitimately curious.
The pressure causes the asphyxia. I have never seen or heard of anyone (white or black) with a cop’s knee pressing on their neck for an extended period of time. It could happen for a shorter period by accident, but not that long. It’s completely contrary to policy and training for obvious reasons.
Police are also trained extensively on positional asphyxia issues. Notice how he appeared to be on his side. That is per policy cause you don’t want them face down. You also, of course, don’t want cops kneeling on their necks. It’s a horrible optic, no doubt about it.
But, every time a white person tries to say that all lives matter, we are told that they don't, and white people are told to shut up...and so the white people go home and sit on their couch, and eat popcorn and watch the blacks on TV burn their own neighborhoods, and loot the stores which serve them and are often owned by them...and nothing gets fixed.
Maybe if we recognized that police brutality is bad for all, no matter which individuals are directly affected by it in each instance, we would make some headway. In other words, don't focus on the victim; focus on the perpetrator, to stop the crime.
But, that would mean we would have to set aside identity politics, which would weaken the national dem party. They need racial divide to power their party. The Dems are the machines of the Matrix, and the blacks are plugged into the Dem Matrix...providing power to the national Dem party...to the detriment of themselves. Keep taking the Blue Pill, all you African-Americans...stay in the Dem Matrix so the dems can use you for power...ignore the fact that if your problems are solved, you would be free to vote for either party, and the Dems know that.
Also, demonizing of hispanics was a big part of Trump's election strategy. Don't act like your side doesn't participate in identify politics.
GOP tries to stop islamist terror, you guys see demonizing of Muslims. You guys are the ones who say criticizing islamist terror is criticizing Muslims or Arabs. That is racism.
GOP tries to stop illegal immigration, you guy see racism. You guys are the ones who say that criticizing criminals is the same as criticizing hispanics. That is racism.
White supremacy was down to like, 9 inbred people in Mississippi...mainstream America was ignoring those idiots. The GOP was not relying on the white supremacy vote. But, you guys have to revive their movement and make it strong again, because it helps you keep African-Americans plugged into your matrix.
I know you don't pay attention to what he says b/c it helps with your cognitive dissonance of supporting such a racist and horrible human. This is a man that literally said all people from Haiti have AIDS.
Did you forget the shit-hole countries thing?
hadn’t committed a crime. If that guy had been black it would have been on the national news for a while. I’m not saying by the way that there isn’t racial bias in policing, there is.
The race element though highly played up, IMHO is not the predominate factor in these force cases. In my experience, most cops divide the world up into citizens that they are protecting, and shitbirds that they are protecting the citizens from. The race of the shitbird is largely irrelevant.

First question when we get a case is whether there is a racial element involved. It makes all the difference and not in a good way. Even if the conduct or injuries are bad, if the plaintiff is white that is normally a huge plus. It takes all of the motive out of it even if they had put the boots to the perp.
Example: Case I tried last Fall. Middle aged white lady causing a ruckus at the police station. My two white cops are alleged to have dragged her face first by the arms back to the cells. Had a little problem that they allegedly tore her rotator cuff while doing it. No video but the injury matched her story. So we win mostly cause we argue what motive did they have to do this to an older lady? Now if the Plaintiff is black, little harder to make that argument with two white cops and maybe we lose. Race has nothing to do with it in either instance.

er..."civil disobedience?"
So places like Target, AutoZone and Wendys abused their power by employing people and being open. They were oppressing these people so they had to be taken down and shown the new law? I'm sure the only thing left in the Target was work boots because none of those assholes probably had a job.
Again, I get the frustration but taking it out on your own neighborhood that employs people is pretty damn stupid. These asshole cops need to prosecuted and put in general population. Justice will be served that way, not by robbing and burning down places of business.
But at least the masks were own. Can't have your fellow looters/rioters catching the Chinese Virus.
