Wow! President Obama just put out a statement.
‘“For millions of Americans, being treated differently on account of race is tragically, painfully, maddeningly “normal.” … This shouldn’t be “normal” in 2020 America. It can’t be “normal.” … We can and must be better. … It falls on all of us … to work together to create a “new normal” in which the legacy of bigotry and unequal treatment no longer infects our institutions or our hearts.”’
Can you say, “Lack of self-awareness?”
Isn’t this the president that presided over an administration that did nothing but treat people differently because of political differences? Illegal FISA warrants; wiretapping; working to create special counsel designed to fleece American tax payers and investigate nothing; accusing a president elected by the American people of being a Russian asset; and all with the help and backing of a sycophantic congress and colluding media.
After four years of media amplifying and championing crooked cops and lying politicians does President Obama not realize how hollow his statements are? And when someone is that hollow the reverberating echo is so deafeningly incongruous that it causes us to wonder what was the actual meaning.
‘“For millions of Americans, being treated differently on account of [political differences] is tragically, painfully, maddeningly “normal.” … This shouldn’t be “normal” in 2020 America. It can’t be “normal.” … We can and must be better. … It falls on all of us … to work together to create a “new normal” in which the legacy of [bias] and unequal treatment no longer infects our institutions or our hearts.”’
We are nearing the end of the Easter season. Pentecost. Come Holy Spirit, The Paraclete, The Great Advocate. Can you imagine having God as you advocate? No one can falsely accuse you with The Great Advocate standing on your behalf.
Advocacy in this season calls to mind the case of General Michael Flynn, and we wonder how seriously his lawyers believe in their fiduciary roles. Is he guilty, is he not? If not, how could his team allow a guilty plea after allowing him to go bankrupt? What really is justice here? Have we lost our fear of God?
When you lose your fear of God you lose your nation. We mock God in our media, entertainment, and schools, and now the highest levels of our judiciary, with the blessing of our chief justice, has told us that we no longer have religious freedom in America, yet we still wonder why our nation is being torn asunder.
While our nation burns our media refuses to rise above partisanship. They approach the president of the United States and essentially prod him to condone the behavior of Colin Kaepernick as if everyone who doesn’t kiss Colin Kaepernick’s ring favors police brutality.
I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about this. Donald Trump is the president of the United States and he is not going to defend anyone kneeling to disrespect the American flag. The history of slavery and oppression did not begin in the United States, yet some athletes don’t have the courage to kneel before the flags of other nations when they have the chance.
Like it or not, our national anthem is important to many in our nation. I do not believe President Trump would even condone disrespecting the Iranian flag, even after being in conflict with them, but some reporter has nothing better to do than to ask him to approve of disrespecting the flag of the country for which he is the president. Colin Kaepernick and others were offered other forums to express their views, but they chose to go another way.
Let them kneel before the Chinese flag and see how swiftly they are condemned by the Chinese government, and those Chinese condemnations would most likely have to wait behind those of our own media and other athletes like Lebron James.
It is amazing how self-absorbed our celebrities and athletes have become, but the world is getting smaller and we don’t have to get all of our information from one outlet. When Lebron James compares NFL owners to slave masters over their players does he really think that no one notices he defends China who oppresses their own people while they also display museum exhibits comparing black people to animals? I suppose it is okay to support oppressive racist regimes as long as it makes certain athletes and celebrities more money. All hail Nike, right?
Swoosh, right under their noses. … Not everyone is blinded by the light of celebrity, and they could be the last to know. Again, the world is getting smaller. When they notice more people saying, “the big swoosh is nothing more than a giant feckless Check Mark”, they will realize they have problems. It’s like the emperors have no clothes and they don’t realize it. You may be “woke”, but people are waking up. Whenever someone sees you sporting The Big Check Mark, the silent murmurs and laughter grow, “There’s another “woke” one who’s fast asleep.” Swoosh, or is it check, or rather…check mate.
The next time President Obama wants to make a statement maybe he should say something constructive like, “Please don’t burn down your own neighborhood and make it more likely for some slick lawyer to get this sick police officer out of jail without punishment because you make it easier for them to be granted a change of venue.” Or better yet, just be quiet and be an ex-president for a while.
