They've been taking advantage of us for years paying less than 1% of GDP and complaining about too. Many other have been too. Germany now realizes the error of their ways and may be able to do little about it.

that has zero to do with the subject at hand.
Several other presidents including W Bush complained about the disparity and imbalance in financing NATO defenses.

after he says something.
That's usually the first big sign he and you don't have a clue.
But it's nice of you to defend him and all his lies and crassness. Your judgement of character reflects who you are.

The Germans have pledged to increase their own military spending (Trump described this wrong all the time). And Trump was the THIRD President to talk about this.
And Germany is a ending weapons to Ukraine. Another reason Putin’s war was a complete disaster for Russia.
The commitment to spend a percentage of GDP on defense has long been violated by Germany, which is obviously what CapeIrish is saying.
And, to pretend that other presidents talked about it like Trump did is a bit disingenuous, since you guys were crying in the streets about how much he talked about it ("He's trying to destroy NATO!! WAAAHHHH!!!")...and trying to paint him like he didn't know what he was talking about by being hyper-technical and criticizing him, while undermining the good he was trying to achieve.

Putin's invasion of Ukraine.. so, with Putin's own statements strongly against NATO...how do you make the case that Trump was endeavoring to "Strengthen" NATO, rather than spread discord?...
There's no way to spin this one around...Trump is, and always has been, Putin's tool...he (DJT) did his best to cause problems with the alliance...fortunately, NATO is coming together more strongly than Putin expected...another failure by Trump.
The 2% "Indirect Funding Issue" is less an issue than the countries' commitment to opposing Russian aggression...we're seeing that right now...and Germany, especially is demonstrating that with action.

Do you agree with Trump that Putin's attack on Ukraine was "Genius"?
Of course, when the blowback got too intense for Trump, he tried to walk it back on Saturday, but still had to say nice things (e.g. he's "smart") about Putin have it both ways.
You're welcome.

Added thought: It occurred to me that you might give Uncle Joe more benefit of the doubt than Uncle Donald. After all, Uncle Donald doesn't have dementia, so he doesn't have a ready made excuse for what he says.
of psychiatrists from all over the country have penned a letter attesting to their observational diagnosis that Trump has a "Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder"...add to that, DJT's utterances of "We could maybe use "Bleach" to cure this thing (COVID)", or "How about using a nuclear bomb to stop a hurricane?"...and you get the picture of who really is in a "Sub-Normal" psychological state.
All Biden has is age...and a lot of experience that is paying off right now...Putin/Russia is staggering under sanctions that Biden warned about...too bad Vlad didn't listen to Joe...
Not one of your better "throws"...time to fire up that 60mph "heater" ;-).
btw...when you back such a monumental loser...you're going to lose...every time.

troop deployments (see attached link), with the U.S. being #1...current events have spurred them to increase funding even more...imagine that.

Green New Deal War. Has an appropriate if unfortunate name, no?
Is Germany not the #2 funding source for NATO's operating budget...and the #2 country for troop deployments, per that link? Way to deflect and shy away from any meaningful discussion about the posted topic...i.e. Germany is NOT standing back and acting like a "free rider"...it has a new chancellor as the head of a multi-party coalition...each with different perspectives on how the country should be run...that has policy implications...but that sort of awareness doesn't come through in your post.
So, I ask, are you going to enter into a substantive discussion on anything?...or just keep doing whatever it is that you do...
