Office of NYC. I called this. He knows he's an asshole and doesn't want to be exposed any further. As has been reported, he went to the Park with dog treats in his pocket, when he doesn't have a dog, in order to lure off-leash dogs to him, which is what he did with her dog. If you have a dog and a stranger complains about your off-leash dog and then tries to lure it in with treats, well, them's fighting words. That makes you a certifiable asshole.
She lost her job, has been arrested, has been brought up on separate NYC Human Rights charges, and has basically been canceled over an incident that his behavior sparked. What a tragedy. If they BOTH had acted like adults none of it would have ever have happened.
His quote: "Bringing her more misery just seems like piling on.”
Seriously Cole?
By all accounts he is an avid bird watcher. Also, he attempts to kindly get people to comply with the park rules of no offleash dogs, by giving the dogs treats and nicely asking their owners to leash them.
The woman flipped out, made a false police report, and tried to get him killed via cop. She got what she deserved. He is a nice enough guy to show mercy at this point.
You are taking the wrong side on this.
of an owner and consider yourself a good guy. Two main reasons are the dog may be on a special diet and the dog may also be trained. He should have simply told her to leash her dog or called park police.
You also miss my other point, in that she was horribly wrong, but she has also definitely suffered enough.
Should have been handled differently by both sides. I don't care what the Birdwatcher says now, I think he realizes that.
That's why he's not pursuing additional damages to the lady, although if he cooperated with the cops, she'd probably get some jail time (which I think personally she deserves). Your premise that him not cooperating with the cops is what makes him an asshole is clearly wrong.
Lastly, do you know for sure he gave any dogs treats without the owners permission? Seems like he uses them to engage in coversation. Such as, "Can I give your dog a treat?...and btw park rules require them to be leashed if you don't mind".
