Was this the Paul Wellstone funeral, part deux?
You've been so, so bitterly disappointing, Barack. At every opportunity as president where you could've showed some guts and integrity, you retreated to this kind of partisan nonsense and pandering to your perceived base. To put in perspective, I can't even imagine Bill doing something like this at a funeral. In fact, I'm sure he wouldn't. Let that sink in. You may win plaudits from fawning homers like Conor and media types, but you're not proud of yourself when you do this. You're smart enough to understand that and you have a moral compass.
You may now proceed with, "What about Trump?!?"

Like we need more political barbs and nonsense invading more "spaces" where it's inappropriate. A funeral would be one of those places. Good grief. Bill and Dubs understood this.
In many ways, Obama is a bigger phony than Trump. You know what you're getting with Trump. Is anyone who paid attention truly shocked at anything he says or does? Obama is an intelligent man and, shame on me, I actually expected something different with him. Alas, he proved to be just another craven, base, pandering, partisan fake. He masquerades as something else.

To have missed that is a Shake Ones Head moment. Missing the moment entirely are those who would object to Obama delivering this soaring
message to America and all Americans on Civility at home, in our communities and in our government and the memory the enormous legacy
left to us by the Great, John Lewis.
That you missed this is completely in character with all your posts and with those who object to the words in the US constitution on the equality of
citizenry in this our land called America.
Not sure that MAS is aware of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Maybe he thinks that is a different John Lewis?
You can't subtly credit John Lewis for all his efforts on civil rights while leaving it to the audience to conclude that more work needs to be done. You could do that with a white audience, but not with "the blacks." They won't get it. And, again, you have to change your accent and simplify your vocabulary when you speak to 'em, too.

No way John Lewis would have wanted any progressive politics mentioned at his funeral.
Maybe the right wing should cede black funeral etiquette to Barack.
could have easily done the same.
The right to vote is not “politics.”
Voter suppression is “politics” only for the GOP.
Obama’s eulogy was a magnificent tribute to John Lewis and was received as such.
and Obama's tribute. The latter two did NOT insert politics nor did they go on the attack. Obama started political attacks at the first opportunity. I don't like that nor do most honest people.
You also have to change how you speak, ya know, in front of "the blacks." Cut the BS. You and I both know that Barack is an intelligent man. Plenty intelligent enough to be embarrassed inside to be talking about the filibuster and all that other crapola that he probably doesn't believe in the first place. That's so cynical and so paternalistic in front of a black crowd. And the bit with him changing his voice because he's speaking in front of black folks undoubtedly gives him pause afterwards.
Lewis isn't here to tell us what he wanted at his funeral. Maybe he wrote it down. I don't know. For as long as I've known about him, I lauded his guts. Maybe he wanted a campaign rally at his funeral. Maybe Paul Wellstone did, too. More is the pity. Barack knows better. I would never think of asking others to embarrass and degrade themselves by encouraging them to act inappropriately in public, in my name.
I'm sure John Lewis would love it if the John Lewis Voting Rights Act passes. That was his final mission in life. Obama was only pushing topics Lewis himself was actively fighting for when he died.

Curious as to why Obama's eulogy bothers you so dearly especially knowing Obama's presidency is the direct ne plus ultra of Lewis's life's labors and struggles.

Remember Remember Obama's wife and Bill bashin' Trump and his policies?

It's how "the blacks" are. They want to whoop and holler, so when you speak to a group of them, you've gotta go along with that. And you gotta change your voice so that they know that you're one of them and so they can understand you. If you don't change your accent and you enunciation, they may not understand you at all. Sophisticated, enlightened people understand all this about how you have to talk to "the blacks."
And the only political topics Obama brought up were things that Lewis specifically fought for as a politician?

That part was classless, IMO. Clinton and Bush did great. Pelosi sickens me no matter what that ho' says. Hate that bitch.
everyone knows that, aside from Irish 64.
I don't know that I can come up with a political figure who received so much hype and turned out to be so underwhelming and disappointing as Obama.
