I live in Northville, Michigan, an upscale suburb of Detroit populated with professionals (engineer, lawyers, doctors... not many African Americans... but lots of 2nd generation Indians and Asians) and front lawns festooned with lots of Biden signs. People seem very very happy. The township has a population of 30,000 and we've had less than 400 cases and 36 deaths from COVID since March. Nowadays, our downtown is wide open and no one wears masks outdoors, althougj everyone carries one and put it on when they enter a store, restaurant or bar.
25 miles away is Ann Arbor, the home of the Wolverines and a city of about 110,000, including around 40,000 students (grads and undergrads) and a lot of University employees. It is obviously hard core Biden country. But the people do not seem happy, and it's not just for lack of football. More importantly, virtually everyone wears a mask outside no matter where they are.
So this has got to be a peer pressure thing... right? I mean the danger from COVID cannot be any worse in A2, because of the relatively young age of the residents.
By the way... just a couple miles outside of either time its' very rural and all you see are Trump signs and virtually no masks. Oh! And they seem ornery!
