The girl kicker from Vandy was named a Co-Special Teams player of the week. There is even a story where she gave a speech at halftime. I'm sure that speech was well received. I asked my daughter about her thoughts on this. She thought it was cool that she had the chance but no way she should be addressing the team nor getting this award.

Men can exploit holes in the defense on the opposite side with a rifle shot right on the foot of a teammate. Women launch slow fluttering ducks that the other side can run down. Just as the height of a basketball hoop limits their game so do the dimensions of the pitch. By contrast, their weaknesses make their games more interesting in tennis and volleyball, where men have outgrown the smaller original dimensions of the sport. This might have happened with hoops without adding the three point line.
To a spry Egyptian forward to unlock the United defense in seconds?!?
We're gonna win the league!
And now you're gonna believe us!
We're gonna win the league!
Is she hot?
We have to care about soccer, or football celebrations, etc. Seems like a rather high bar.

Basically saying she should be happy playing the sport that she earned on her own merits.
Personally, I think it's funny that they have to "reach" by specifying Power-5 school. Other girls have made ACTUAL kicks in college. I was far more impressed with Holley Mangold playing O-line for Archbishop Alter HS. Really playing the position in games.

She was kicking field goals from the 2 yard line at one point (which is obviously an impossible scenario) and they were barely making it over. Maybe they were trying to get her to kick higher? I guarantee she can kick a soccer ball farther than she kicked that football on the kickoff. But then she immediately started toward the sideline. Not sure running away from the ball carrier should get you a trophy.
Also, what about their punter? Can't he kick field goals? Usually guys are kicker/punter in high school, aren't they?
The whole thing seemed fabricated...like Vanderbilt's coach was thinking, "Well, if we can't win a game, then at least we can do some social justice work on the field."
This is not taking away from this girls talent on the soccer pitch. She is a D1 athlete and obviously intelligent to be attending Vanderbilt but they went too far with it. This is not the "history making" event the woke media are making it out to be. I know all the girls I coached wanted to be treated the same as the boys. They are fantastic athletes and should not be used a prop. I really hope Mason didn't do this to try and save his job.
