For everyone else COVID is a nuisance and not a public health threat. What could possibly be the motive for continuing draconian shutdowns that are destroying small businesses?

vaccinated, so in order to protect everyone, we need to have demonstrated that around 70% of the population has either been vaccinated or survived COVID-19 in order to achieve "Herd Immunity" and get back to 'business as usual'...good to hear that you'll be one of those "doing the right thing".
Good news is that the vaccines are progressing well (albeit, with some degree of caution re: Pfizer's product), so if there are no shocks, we could shoot off even more fireworks on July 4th!

The other part is the reluctance of customers to go to those small businesses.
Blame the government all you want, but restaurants and other places are not getting back to normal until this virus is crushed.
What is getting crushed is freedom...
Democrat side is never to be questioned and are never wrong. I have never seen so many "intelligent" people just go along and just accept the shit that is being shoved down their throats. The lockdowns are killing small businesses left and right while the big box stores are gaining their customers. If they are going to impose a lockdown, make it across the board and make sure the people forcing the lockdown follow the rules as well. Instead the "leaders" are doing what they want and the people who put them in office don't say a word about it and then the MSM bury the stories. The Government doesn't give a shit about the people and they are going to do whatever they want. We just can't follow those same rules.
and get 'Take Out' orders, or pop-in to our local hardware store...but we are in that vulnerable cohort and I can assure you that virtually everyone we know - regardless of political persuasion - won't be spending any time inside any establishment for more than a few minutes until they've been vaccinated and an "all clear" notice has been posted by the Public Health authorities. You may not agree with Chris on much (or anything), but in point of fact, he's right...control the COVID-19 pandemic (i.e. get 70%+ vaccinated, with testing and contact tracing in place) and the economy will return...the more people who resist/object to the vaccine, testing, etc...the more pain businesses (livelihoods) endure.
local restaurants. Strip mall sushi places are my favorites. We have a typical round of local pizza places we order from. And I stopped reading when you started with Chris being right about anything. How that guy makes it through life on a daily basis is beyond me.

"Concierge" for the week. It's awesome going to different local places and trying all kinds of food when work is paying for it. We have had some major tabs. Hopefully we can return to normal sooner rather than later.

High tech is booming in the shutdown economy. Those who can work from home are doing just fine.
normal for many businesses if not for the draconian rules.
