Just the sniffles and the seasonal flu.
No wonder Tampa likes TN so much.

And that's the real reason some hospitals are "overrun." They're throwing as many people as they can who test positive.
My sister, a nurse, sent me a link where previously, 24% of all hospitalized patients died compared to today's 7%. Result of improved treatments and knowledge? Sure. But that can't explain all of the 71% drop in deaths. That $13,000 per patient Medicare pays for Covid is a great incentive. My mom was one who they threw into the hospital even though her symptoms were minor.
admitted. It's virtually impossible to know who will have a mild or fatal infection...some people do okay for a few days and then turn 'south' very quickly. Advances and improvements in COVID-19 treatment are thankfully making a difference, but to suggest that patients not be admitted because "most" seem to do well is never going to fly...therefore, if people don't heed medical advice then hospitals, doctors and nurses will indeed be overwhelmed. Again...it sucks...but "it is what it is"; hang in there...do the right thing and get the vaccine as soon as it comes to you.
I've put this up ad nauseum, but the three-drug cocktail of hydroxychloroquine/zinc/azithromycin, if given within about 5 days of symptom onset, has a remarkable cure rate. It should be prescribed to everyone over 60, and select under-60s who have certain health conditioos.
We don't need to hospitalize everyone over a certain age who tests positive. Again, if their symptoms are recent, give them the three-drug cocktail and send them home. But then again, it's hard to turn away $13,000 when you really don't have to.
this is an exact quote from an Infectious Disease specialist who is very much involved with the national ID community. This Doc is 100% into "Evidence-based Medicine", and no matter who was promoting it, if "Hydroxy" had 'efficacy', it would be supported...it does not.
Patients showing up at a hospital with symptoms and a positive COVID-19 test will be admitted...if there are beds, Doctors and Nurses available...otherwise, absent those availabilities, they are on their own with no treatment. I'm sure you'll agree that's not what anyone wants...
As to added costs...mitigate with fervor..get vaccinated asap, and hospitalizations/fatalities will decline and eventually drop to very low levels.
My only objective here is unbiased truth so that as many lives as possible can be extended.

What's more is only about 10% of the population has been exposed thus far and hospitals are worried about being overwhelmed...what happens when 20%...40%...60% of the U.S. population is infected?
The world has had diseases from well before hominids came down from the trees. Oh! And here's a news flash... human beings are mortal. But... we have defeated every pandemic in our history by.... wait for it... herd immunity! It's pretty arrogant to think we can do any better with this one.
believe that's what you're saying. You're very frustrated with the impact COVID-19 is having on the economy and social gatherings...who isn't. We're dealing with a contagious disease that kills...until 75% of the population get vaccinated, we all have to do the right thing and deny the virus any new "Hosts"...to do that, we maintain social distancing, wear masks, wash hands...and calm down. That approach will extend the lives of many, many lives.
The pandemic victories you allude to have been accomplished by the same kinds of medical professionals that are currently recommending the actions you are uncomfortable with...listen to them.
Wait I know, Trump cured the flu. He is Superman.
My point is that the ~60K annual deaths from 'Flu' and Pneumonia (per CDC) are still occurring, but added to this are 320K (and growing) deaths with COVID-19 on the certificates. Also, because this disease is highly contagious, hospitals are being overwhelmed trying to treat all who show up at their doors testing positive for the virus. The large majority will not succumb, but all will need treatment, which means beds, nurses and doctors are shunted to this task, rather than tending to other maladies (e.g. heart attacks, eye surgeries, knee replacements, bowel obstructions...etc, etc)...trust me...I'm getting this info from docs who are actually there on the front line. Our family ICU Doc has been responsible for scheduling all the Docs in the hospital to work on COVID-19 when overflow conditions are reached.
I doubt that anyone on this board would want to have a medical emergency for themselves or family members and find when showing up at the ER that there were no Docs and Nurses available...this is no fantasy, this will happen if things get worse (think Christmas traveling by millions of mask-less people yearning to hug far flung friends and family members)...but then, I could be wrong.

At Red Lobster should never happen. Try and get out once in a while. Being around people is healthy. Your farm animals can only give you so much comfort. Try and be like the “leaders” you respect so much and break their rules. If they don’t live by them, why should you.
And yes, I do see you as a Red Lobster/Texas Roadhouse guy.
Presumably just reminding us all how boring you are.
No need.
numbers down? Put you CNN medical degree to work and get me answer.
Which, as you may have heard, is their winter.
But they were social distancing and wearing masks.
Like (most of) us now.
For people under 30, the infection fatality rate is around 0.01%
The rate is less than 0.1% up to roughly age 45-50.
You get to about 1% when you are 65-70 or so.
The rate jumps to 10% by age 80.

You’ve been screaming about our health care system breaking down and yet it hasn’t happened. You and the head Lib on the board keep hoping it happens just to say you’re right and “look what Trump has done to us now”. It’s pretty sad way to live but you guys seem to enjoy the doom and gloom lifestyle, I would rather be me.
It didn’t break down in the Spring because of the lockdown.
We hope it holds now. If it does it won’t be because of jackasses like you.
But if you need videos of nurses and doctors dancing, let me know. There are plenty of them out there. I would like to say it’s faux rage but you being afraid is real and pretty funny. Stay home Franny, it’s safer inside while your leaders are out living their lives. Idjit.
It’s all about me and fuck everyone else. Enjoy the Captains Platter.
