resigns now and Pence becomes President for two weeks.
1) I doubt he'd see them
2) Even if he did, he wouldn't listen.
For all his faults, Nixon at least could see what was best for the country. Once he was told that conviction was a certainty (its estimated that the Senate would have convicted him something around 85-15), he resigned rather than put the country through an impeachment and trial. He also had the good sense to not contest the 1960 election for much the same reason.
Nixon also quietly provided sage counsel on foreign policy when asked by all of his successors until the end of his life. Trump will get no such calls.

Fox has reported that Pence made that call to authorize, though I'm not sure he has the authority to do so.

"Trump has directed the National Guard to head to the Capitol, he said in a tweet, and U.S. Capitol Police have requested additional support. The FBI has been deployed, and the U.S. Marshals Service was assisting in the response, too."

this isn’t how we participate in a Republic. If he doesn’t agree. Mitch and McCarthy should do a press briefing telling America that this doesn’t represent our country or the Republican Party.
