Russian technology is hopelessly behind the times and they have a Potemkin military. Who knows if they can really deliver a decent first strike. At this point even Putin must wonder what nuke capacity he really has.

double digit Ukrainian airfields, C2 stations, S-300 anti-aircraft systems, radar stations... not impressed you? Or you just followed this war from propaganda? Maybe you should ask members of Ukraine foreign legion. They have the first hand personal experience and knowledge to tell you. A few of them are pretty active on social media.
Did I mention hypersonic missile? Russia has been working on scaling down their tactical nuclear weapons which is always their advantage, making them more practical.
But, when you are shelling a city by the grid square, I guess you tend to hit everything after a while.

Congress should pass a Draft tomorrow. The United States should demonstrate that we welcome WW III.
Watch who blinks first.

NATO could pull a Kennedy, and announce that it will consider any detonation of any nuclear device by Russia to be a direct attack on a nation of NATO, thereby triggering Article 5. If you want to stop that, the Russian generals need to know what they will face if they obey any order like that.
NATO could also promise a no fly zone in response to a chemical attack.
Granted...Ukraine is already winning this war...but that is when Putin might get desperate.
Remember when he said US civilians didn't need rifles, because they would never be able to stand up to the US military which has nukes? Hmmm.

Granted, it has been 30 years since Russia and the US has actually tested a nuclear weapon. Who can say about the reliability of those things. I guess they've been testing the delivery systems, though. (And before anyone says anything, a simulation is not a test...it is a simulation.)
