I've watched that speech a couple of times...IMO the last words were not an 'ad lib'...here's my
take...

I disagree - it’s about time he calls it for what it is. Sometimes diplomacy is being forthright.
The message was very clear, and clear in support to Ukrainian’s who are on the battlefield risking their all and clear to the Russian’s both on the field of battle, in the seats of power, and the average citizen across Russia - The United States of America are United with NATO, the EU and against Putin and his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Not an escalation rather a position that Russia/cannot win either on the battlefield or in their homeland - they are the pariah.
