Will Smith was unhinged and spoiled a great show. He obviously is wound too tight and needs professional help.
Zero excuse to act like he did. Incredibly selfish and unprofessional lack of self control. It was insulting to the Academy, and particularly the Williams family and QuestLove.
If Smith had any sense, he would have profusely apologized to all, including Chris Rock, and not attempted to justify his violent outburst as defending his wife’s dignity. (Other ways to do so. The joke was a tad cruel)
Hollywood may choose to no longer fund Smith’s work. That is for the money people to ascertain.
At a minimum, Smith never deserves to be a presenter at any future Oscars show.
A solid punch. Instead, he went with a slap. Give me a break. It got people talking about this shit of a show as it was intended.

Let the other dude stroll away. Nope, not happening in the real world. At least the world I grew up in.
...was gonna walk up and say something. He did not expect to be hit on stage. took time to realize it happened, and then was in shock somewhat that it had happened.
Your hands? Not sure where you grew up but that shit would not have gone down that way. There would have been some kind of reaction. That is unless he knew it was coming.
But, he was born with plenty more smarts and sense than you were, .... which is why he did not throw down with Will Smith on the Oscar stage amidst a worldwide TV audience.
New rule: When it is painfully obvious that your judgment has been proven wrong or mistaken, ... you are permitted/encouraged to acknowledge your errant position.

Talking about.

And he could have lambasted him in his acceptance speech later which would have kept the attention on Rock's lack of taste joke.
Smith could've texted his agent and had a media blast out about the insensitivity of Rock's joke...and how he should have his ass beat...before the end of the Best Documentary presentation.
Believe Will has a lot of pent-up aggression in part due to his wife's Red Table Talk show where she needs to vent about their self-absorbed lives and, at least previously, open (semi-open?) separation period.
