Maybe conscripts who all have one year contracts and are short timers looking to go home unscathed.
There could also be a problem with some of the 350,000 conscripts due to come on board fearing assignment to army units which will move into Ukraine to replace units coming off the line for rotation home and discharge. The conscripts are not professional gung-ho types who might be hearing tales from the front and want no part of it.

Perhaps Russia's experience is demonstrating that there should only be a draft when there is a substantial and active threat to the nation, not as a means of reforming society (like the US Left wants) or as a mere means of cheap soldiers (as Putin wants).
This attack has exposed a lot of facts - I hope we learn from their mistakes.
