but they'd do it in a heart beat if they could...cuz it's all about them. Watch how quicly they'd hop onto the idea of a pipeline if it was to benefit themselves.
It is one of the reasons that the Great Lake States got together with Canada to sign a treaty which should make it harder for the selfish Californians to take from others.

national flood control system that channels water to the west, but that’s never going to happen.

e now complicated by explosive growth in population since the last reservoir was built. Far too much rain and snow melt rushes out to sea rather than being captured for use.
It's not that the west coast hasn't had droughts before it's that there is no rain/snow to capture to make a reservoir.
quite literally no snow in the mountains and not enough rain anywhere. The weather patterns have changed. Yes, California has always had
dry weather and yes it has an extremely large and bourgeoning population which doesn't help. And even in the best of times
the state would have issues with water distribution. But now it's a real issue of no precipitation.
It's not Chinatown anymore, Jake.

many of our 'parochial' posters don't realize how important CA agriculture is to the nation and world...it is an essential USA resource that can't be replicated elsewhere...it needs serious attention due to the on-going...and very real...impacts of Climate Change.

of water for irrigation.
latest figures aren't available since the "rainy season" doesn't officially end until June...I've done a little arithmetic for you...(Average Rainfall for L.A. = 14.67 inches, fyi)
>First 20 years:...totals...
Under Avg...36.82 inches
Over Avg.....83.43 inches
Net Amt.......46.61 inches (Over)
>Last 20 years...totals...
Under Avg...88.64 inches
Over Avg.....40.21 inches
Net Amt......48.43 inches (Under)
BTW, this time span covers a significant portion of the Global "Industrial Age"...so clearly, we're seeing a pronounced trend in rainfall for L.A....DOWNWARD...which coincides with the CO2 and temperature trends shown in the literature regarding "Climate Change"...i'll be looking for statewide data, and anyone else who finds it, please share...but this data is compiled over 140 years, so it's not a "Blip" in the record...this is a genuine environmental TREND...
Try to keep these numbers in mind as you re-read Conor's linked article, or perhaps for the first time...

you can't get any more authoritative than that...stop pushing on a rope...accept the data.
view california should be collecting more snow melt.

But please continue to burnish your reputation as a self important arrogant humorless prick.
insight into a very serious issue for not just California, but our nation and the many others who rely on what CA produces...again, all you have to do is focus on subject matter and you'll feel a whole lot better...you're welcome.

or Morrow Bay, or Yosemite, La Jolla, Sierra Nevadas....
There are some shit holes like downtown LA and San Fran, but for the most part...California is a national treasure.
escape oppressive heat, humidity and bugs....we have good friends from Naples who summer at Lake Tahoe...can sit outside without mosquito nets...
Don't get me wrong, our friends LOVE Florida...and with good reason...but CA is indeed a treasure...all year round.
But the tax rate is ridiculous, the housing situation is awful, the cost of living is astronomical, and the government is laughable.
As they say, a nice place to visit, but there is no fucking way I'd ever live there.

Limo Lib of the highest order. Some nice places in CA, but on balance it's a hell hole. And I grew up there.
Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, S. Central LA, all of the San Bernadino and Riverside Counties. No oppressive heat? The man hasn't the first clue outside his white privileged gated community.
Summer...lots of ordinary people do this...there's no escape inside FLA...other than A/C indoors.

and I do agree with it for the most part. Pelosi, Newsom....definitely political scum.
There are parts of Cali that are beautiful, as long as it’s run by Dems, it will be tarnished.
economic status...through Republican and Democratic administrations...
Because the opportunities for success in CA have been so prevalent, home ownership has become a real problem...making it harder for those below CXO levels to afford to live in the 'hottest' areas (actually, not unique to CA)...some changes will need to be made...do a search if you're interested of my posts and include the key words "Sam Liccardo"...he's the current Mayor of San Jose, and he wrote an opinion piece on that recently.
California's economy is bigger than Russia's economy. Think about that, Eli.
It's a rhetorical question.
and I've lived here for 32 years.
