- Russia acknowledges Ukraine's right of arm and defend itself
- Russia pays Ukraine an exorbitant amount, $100 billion, etc.

Because Ukraine was too corrupted. Russia has no issue on Ukraine's EU membership. It is military alliance that's the issue to Russia.

I don't think you really understand Ukraine. Ukraine has been in what we called the syndrome of post-Communist mindset. Many communist countries in 1990s had it. People complain on everything, do nothing. Other post-communist countries managed to get out of that mindset, including China of post-Mao. But somehow Ukraine hasn't. Many good hard working Ukrainians go to other countries to get rid of that toxic environment.

Here is where you delusion comes in. We are not "letting" the Ukrainians do anything.
Resisting an invasion would have occurred to them, believe it or not, no matter what anyone else did.
The abject failure of the Russians is in the interest of not only the United States but all of Putin's other neighbors. It makes the next invasion much less likely. If he had swept into Kiev in three days like you wanted him to, he would have come away very confident - and dangerous.
