Nijel Pack, an all Big 12 guard, for the 9-20 Kansas State basketball team, just signed a two-year, $800,000 deal plus a car, to play for the Miami Hurricanes.
John Ruiz, the billionaire owner of the company Life Wallet, and a Miami booster, trumpeted this deal. He has reportedly paid more than 100 Miami athletes already, but this was his biggest deal to date.
However, this deal did not sit well with Isaiah Wong, Miami's second-best player last year, who had a smaller NIL deal. His agent announced that he was going to go into the transfer portal unless his NIL deal was increased; and then, shortly after, Wong announced that he wasn't going into the portal.
Obviously, Ruiz got the message and sweetened the NIL deal.
Moral of the story:
Ruiz will get his man, whether it's right or Wong.
