“A great number of people followed Him, including women who kept mourning and wailing for Him. But Jesus turned to them and said,”Daughters of Jerusalem do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and your children.
Look, the days are coming when people will say,”Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore, and breasts that never nursed”.
Of course, he also said, Thou shalt not kill when quoting the 10 commandments.
Jeremiah 1:5 from the Old Testament also specifically and poignantly addresses abortion:
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I sanctified you....”
Multiple other references from New Testament - One here:
Psalm 139:15-16:
“My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;all of my days were written in Your book and ordained for me. Before one of them came to me”
There are multiple others in Old and New Testament. You can’t weasel out of the fact that abortion is immoral, evil, and the taking of innocent life. No excuses or rationalizations change this.
And of course we have Church doctrine as well as in times since Roe v Wade we have Pope Paul, Pope JP 1, Pope Saint JP II, Pope Benedict, and Pope Francis all saying that abortion is a grave mortal sin and Francis most recently calling it murder.

Is a fundamental, basic function of our government. It doesn’t have to do much, just very basic things like this and protection of its borders.
1 John 3:17-18
But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
I am not against open admission - but I am against chaos. Registration, border patrols, avoidance of human and drug trafficking

No questions asked. You support them fully. You house them. You feed them. You give them their medical care. Take down the fence around your house and unlock your doors permanently. Let as many illegals in your home and care until there is no more room. Let fentanyl in your house. Let child trafficking go on in your house. Let the gangsters stay in your house. Let illegals from all over the world stay at your house, at your expense. Let us know how it turns out. I don't see any of our Bishops, Cardinals or The Vatican doing any of this.

Now, which one of our open border supporters that contribute here will be the first to volunteer their homes? Talk the talk. Walk the walk.

Disclosure: I'm not a gun guy. I would prefer if nobody was walking around with a concealed carry permit. But the second amendment is somewhat obscure:
"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"
If we want to change the status quo, we should probably amend the constitution.

Look at the public school systems and our society in general since "my" religion has been swept away.
Just like any other homicide statute is a secular statute, so is an abortion homicide statute. You need not resort to religion to condemn a type of killing. Homicides have always been the one of the first jurisdictions of secular authority.
So, abortion is a secular issue. It can also be a religious issue, just like any other homicide: "Thou shalt not kill." We don't set aside our homicide statutes because the Bible also condemns homicide.

But, I agree that the basis for anti-abortion statutes should be secular. And, it easily can be.
