Out of one side of their scabby mouths, they tell us that Putin is an unhinged autocrat bent on reinstituting the Iron Curtain and worse, and capable of anything. Then out of the other sides of their scabby mouths, they urge us to ramp up our entanglement in this mess with Putin and move closer to the precipice.
Not only do they consistently try to make greater international committments, but they consistently get everything wrong. It's a deadly combination.
The Ukrainians are doing us one great favor and their heroism will mean no US involvement in any European war for decades,
Hopefully we will support Taiwan in the same way.
Are we "defanging" Putin by giving Ukraine billions? Gambling on mutual assured destruction based upon the hunches of you and interventionist clowns with terrible track records isn't a wise course. And offering up a new version of, "Better to fight them over there than here" is disingenuous tripe. We were not on a course for military conflict with Russia prior to trying to prop up Ukraine. We're much closer, now, though, so well done.
This has nothing to do with Biden's presidency. I haven't changed on thisfor decades, now. I say that we ought to stay out of these quagmires and I'm always vindicated, in the end. That record won't change with Ukraine. In a couple years, we'll be talking about the money flushed down the toilet in another quixotic foreign undertaking to foster "democracy." Assuming we haven't nuked each other by that point, what would you wager that Putin will still be in power in a couple years? Just to remind everyone, not only did Joe announce this as an objective, but Lindsey and other Republicans hold this as an objective, too. I think we should enumerate what exactly will entail success and failure in our involvement in this war.
general terms at least (so as not to give the enemy useful information).
I have been in favor of helping Ukraine and still am. But I cannot deny the fact that this is looking like it could drag on for a very long time or worse, escalate into our direct involvement.
I'm actually not arguing whether we should do more or not. But, I think the defanging has already occurred.

That other old fool in DC, Mitch McConnell , said that Ukraine is the most important thing going on. His own words. A United States Senator said this. These DC politicians hate the people they represent so much. Open borders, human trafficking, gangs crossing over, gas prices, empty shelves, fentanyl deaths by the tens of thousands, homelessness, crime, inflation. "Ukraine is the most important thing going on". That's what he said. That's what they all feel in DC.
Because that’s what we’re sending to Ukraine.
