His best line is the Dems have labs in Berkeley and Brooklyn to come up with ideas to piss off the working class and it's working out beautifully.

forgiveness programs that need to be addressed (see link)...moreover, the issue is a complex one that involves, among other things, the rampant increase in higher education costs for students which out-pace their ability to pay (see below)...

Let's not be too quick to make this a "Leftist" issue...btw...I haven't heard much from the GOP about how to deal with the abuses and complexities of "Student Loan Forgiveness"...a reasoned debate needs reasoned alternatives.

There is no such thing as "forgiveness." There is only shifting payments from those who voluntarily took on the debts to those who did not take on debts they could not pay. "Forgiveness" is a term the Left uses to mislead the electorate.
This is a purely Leftist issue. It is disingenuous of you to suggest otherwise.
personnel who were defrauded?
Also, do you not see a fundamental problem with runaway college costs in the midst of an ever-widening 'Wealth Gap' that leaves those seeking to improve their lot in life with ever-increasing debt burdens?...
Deep thinking is a problem for you, Ned...isn't it.
We have runaway costs because of federally guaranteed student loans. Cheap debt started the problem. Free debt will make it worse...setting aside the fact that it provides perverse incentive for bad behavior (beside encouraging universities to raise tuition, and besides immorally transferring the debt burden from those responsible to the innocent, it encourages them to admit more students for moronic degrees, and it encourages more people to incur that debt studying moronic majors that won't help them get a job). You don't seem to understand this issue.
This is a total loser issue for the left. I'm doing you a favor by arguing for you guys to drop this. you have no idea the backlash you will create when people who chose a trade over college realize they will now be taxed to payoff loans for gender studies majors for people who will now be competing for their jobs.
Forgiveness program (see link)...while there could be fraud involved, that issue is very much germane to this topic...as I've already stated.
At least we agree that there are "runaway" costs for higher education...and, again, I submit that they need to be dealt with...if the "laissez faire" market won't make the appropriate correction to allow citizens to improve their lot in life...i.e. provide more 'productive' workers to the betterment of ALL...then it is right and proper for the only other entity (i.e. U.S. Government) to do the "right thing".
Note: IMO the student loans were, and are, granted to people who become Teachers, Policemen and Military Officers, etc (e.g. the "PSLF" program)., as well as all the other 'productive' careers we need to grow our GDP....so, don't use that ridiculous trope to categorize ALL loan recipients...or even a fraction thereof.
As far as debt is concerned...the Biden admin is, as we speak, reducing the national debt...(you can Google it"...whereas the previous admin raised it significantly...so, if you're genuinely concerned about that issue...turn your gaze...and "Ire" toward the GOP.
I suspect this doesn't resonate with your Libertarian philosophy...but it's the way the majority of Americans think...could also be why the Libertarian Party has never captured the hearts of the American public...and why the Dems keep winning the popular vote in Presidential elections...
btw, you should watch more of the Bill Maher episode with Paul Begala...neither of them would even dream of casting a vote for anyone but a Democrat for quite awhile....but if you'd like some free advice...wake up to reality and join the party that actually "Produces" results which benefit this nation, and ALL of its citizens...while lowering debt at the same time.
One more thing...apropos of 'not much'...am I correct in assuming you are an attorney?...no need to answer...just curious.

So what’s the right number?
The Congressional Budget Office looked at the student debt picture in 2017. Of $1.4 trillion in total debt, CBO said, about 60% was spent during undergraduate school. The remaining 40% of outstanding student loan debt was spent during graduate school.
So, DeSantis has it almost exactly backward.
A majority of the federal student loan dollars disbursed during the 2020-21 school year were borrowed by undergraduate students, per a report from College Board, a nonprofit education group.
