You can't get this kind of culture out in Cow Country with the hicks.

Look, I enjoy visiting our cities, and I've never felt unsafe in one, the homeless don't bother me, I like that people try to make time, and all kinds of things, but you couldn't pay me to live in any of them. The noise, the freaks, the air quality (lack thereof), the indifference to others (I've walked past people tweaking out on the sidewalk with hundreds of others. Outside our cities, someone would call 911), the acceptance that people will steal your stuff if you don't lock it up extra-securely (a large percentage of my neighbors don't even lock their doors), the traffic jams, the rudeness (My summer gig draws me into contact with people from all over, and I get a kick out of people from large cities who immediately put up their defenses and wonder, "What's this guy's angle," when I greet them and ask where they're from...never happens with people from Iowa or Idaho or South Dakota and so on). They're decent people, I'm sure, but dealing with all the things I listed above on a daily basis has conditioned them to look at other people in odd ways.
Visit? Absolutely. Live there? Are you crazy? You can have it. None of the upsides, like being able to drive to a Broadway show or a theater showing foreign films or a pro sports venue, come close to outweghing the negatives.
profess to be.
It works for you.
And I've noticed this before, and I've mentioned it before. In my experience, it's not rural folks who have this ignorance or lack of appreciation of cities (they enjoy visiting them), but rather, it's usually city folks who are ignorant of what rural life is like and base their conclusions about it on absurd stereotypes, as you and Chris do. You'll note that most of things I listed are quantifiable, whether it's air quality, crime rates, amount of traffic, and so on. You'll also note that I'm not getting hostile, either, yet you're reacting the same way you do when I disagree with your movie or music picks.
As it happens, I live in close enough proximity to the Twin Cities that we get a flow of people leaving them for country life. Interestingly, many of them share your political ideology. Curiously, they seem not to want to live in a place where the policies of the politicians they elect are implemented, and instead willingly move to much redder areas. I think perhaps we should chew on that for awhile.

You don't need to lecture the rest of us on what we know because you think you know our lives. And you are hostile - you're always hostile
it's never different with you - and it is noted in all your posts.
You've developed an affected conciseness of our lives in a city out of some type of protectionism for your lifestyle I guess, and now you're a bully.
Like I said, stay in your little patch and be happy, but don't assume we want to live your life or haven't known your lifestyle and chose a broader
mindset than the closed off one you tell us about every day in your posts.
You're not only a bully, but you're also a bigot and a misogynist. - what you live isn't for me and where you live and who you are doesn't have any real bearing
on your nature or anything to do with rural vs city, it's just easier for you to hide your nasty traits out there than in a city.
Why are you so angry at me? When you and Chris go off on country folk, I mock it. I don't get angry. I don't think anyone here should be booted. At the same time, I don't understand how one of the posters here was booted for expressing unpopular opinions, but you going off on consecutive days like this doesn't result in you being booted. You fly off the handle here often, and usually for really inconsequential things. There are some people who just aren't able to handle internet forums because they can't handle the fact that other people have opinions that differ from their own. I think you may be one of them. When things like city vs. country debates or movie preferences are sufficient to make you act like this, you may want to think about whether a place like this is for you.
Red neck morons who support trump and those ideologies (doesn't matter if you're from rural or urban hoods), oh yeah, I sure do.
Your perception of this anger is just you inventing a narrative you need for some reasoning unknown to me. Sounds like therapy is something
that might help.
As far as someone being booted - haven't a clue what you're going on about.
And as far as accepting opinions of others, you may want to read
your very own posts. I can't think of a time when you haven't shoved your opinion on a subject while not accepting another's opinion.
The lady doth ...
matter?
Why are you so angry over somehting like this?

somehow, my anger/hostility?
It's a link to LA transit.
I guess we're done.

A few times for work and for 2 funerals. I will never bring my kids to the area nor have they shown an interest. My wife is from the NorthEast part of Philly and I always joke that I got the last girl out with all her teeth. Most of my family still live in the area and do nothing but complain. Yet, the majority continue to vote for Democrats.
I've long had a theory that if the cities continue down the road that they're on and eventually become Mad Max lands, some of the places that people assume will be "safe" from mass migration from the cities won't be safe. Places like Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah, and even Alaska will be magnets for their natural splendor and the continued sense that they are wide open or empty. I believe the safest place from this kind of mass migration will be the rural Dakotas, and particularly North Dakota. So, if our political and cultural divisions eventually result in absolute incompatibility or even civil war, which I really do think is possible, you may want to check out properties in central ND. It'll be safe for a long time. But, of course, South Dakota has no state income tax, so you may want to investigate there, too.
Holes are pushing people to relocate down here. Again, all are welcome but don’t bring your Democrat vote with you. Don’t New York/PA my Florida.
In a town called Escondido. Country life in my area, if you will. Neighbors are good people. We have neighborhood parties on a regular basis. We’re close friends with quite a few of them. Kids play together and all that. Can’t think of such events in big cities. Wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.
Obviously not Chicago or LA or any other city managed by Democrats for 60 years straight.
