We can't even get our lefty friends to admit they want these high price which is obvious to anyone really paying attention. All I can say is that the honest hard working people of the United States are paying through the nose for "Climate change" decisions like this and our enemies in Russia, China and Iran will love it and will be emboldened. Our military might have a few problems running on electricity and you better buy a Generator for your home or business. You will need it.
This is truly "The gang that can't shoot straight". They will pay a terrible price at the polls (if the elections are somewhere near honest) in November for it because the people ain't buying it.

BUT, higher prices will come with the transition process (see link)...btw, there are some 'surprises' coming for the cohort that wants 100% Wind and Solar (no Nukes), since they have yet to factor in energy storage for those variable sources.
Right now, fuel prices are indeed elevated because of the COVID Supply Chain phenomenon...and the need to choke off Putin's income during this war...but that's not the last of price increases as O&G companies face ever dwindling sales...
This is all disconcerting, to say the least, but there's no turning back...time to face reality.

Of course, his vision was $2.50 gas. or thereabouts, with the balance of the $5 being made up of increased Federal and State Taxes, primarily Federal..
Once it became clear he was a viable candidate and not just a young pol trying to get his name out there nationally, his advisers told him to STFU about $5 gas.
Now we have a White House chock full of former Obama advisers and a President in cognitive decline...and we have $5 gas...imagine that....
(Not exactly Obama's dream...but I don't think they're as bothered by it as a normal White House team working for a President that they wanted to re-elect would be.)
Problem is that it only resonates in the MSM and the faculty lounge.
Out in the real world no one is buying this.
I challenge you to Google a poll in which the public is content with this state of affairs.
rational members of the GOP have their own ideas on how to make the transition...that's how a democracy needs to deal with such a monumental challenge.
btw, where did you find all that "straw" to build your Poll argument?...if you've done your due diligence, you'll easily understand that none of the gas price increases were "designed" by the "Leftists",...it's all the result of COVID and Putin...and natural reactions by an industry noted for recognizing a profit opportunity when it sees one.

We all know that this is what they want. Obama said famously that he wanted $5/gallon of gas a decade ago. He still calls the shots.
prices are a a great way to reach their goals.

You are a buffoon.

And that element is strong within this administration. Also reminded of Obama wanting to bankrupt the coal industry. For the record, I am not against these things.
Gas prices are the most visible reflection of inflation.
Inflation is top issue with voters, always.
There is no way the president wants to see high prices at the pump. He cannot win in 2024 unless they come down.

And that’s almost impossible.
Are you saying he’s mentally incompetent?

And to the right of me.
Nobody ever did.
I'm sure he picked up that throwaway from some moron staffer looking at the bright side

We can argue about when and how, but it's a near irrefutable fact that we run out at some point without alternatives.
And increasing costs are the easiest way to reduce consumption, AKA, somewhat delay the inevitable.
But innovation is the way out of it, IMO, rather than shaming people into reducing consumption.
