1st Worst - AA - America Air
2nd Worst - Delta Air.
1st Best - SAS
2nd Best - Cathay Pacific
Best: TWA...full disclosure, I had passes and $25 upgrades to First Class...plus their pilots were the best as well.
2nd Best: Pacific Southwest between SF and LA...best and most entertaining Stewardesses EVER.
Everything went downhill from a passenger standpoint after Deregulation.
I was just charged $27 extra for an aisle seat by United, which seemed just dickish.
But I bet they all do dickish things.
I hate the way Southwest herds everyone on.
Canceled flights by the gazillions, no flights after booking them, last minute changes like nonstop flights becoming multiple stops.
AA actually booked us on a nonexistent flight coming back from Mexico - boarding passes in hand, no flight existed. I could go on.

Canceled flights changed flights.
So if they’re the paradigm, US air travel is off the charts in trouble.
But yes, I saw they are considered America’s best. It’s a lie.
Also helps to be Diamond.

They were an awful airline to fly up through maybe 2011. Not sure when or why, but my experiences with them are better now than they used to be.
I have had good experiences with Frontier and JetBlue.

But their employees are all a pleasure to deal with these days. They tend to be on time and organized. Something changed.

Spirit is so bad I wouldn't even buy you a ticket.

Love the Hong Kong airport, their primary hub.
I never got to fly Singapore, but everyone who has flown them, without exception, has told me Singapore was better than even Cathay, so they must be pretty damned good.
Japan Airlines, Korean Airlines...also very good.
EVA Airlines (Taiwan) I only flew once and it was a nightmare flight. Maybe it was a fluke, but I never gave them another chance.
SAS, British, Lufthansa were always decent enough.
Domestically, I don't have a preference. But I never fly a US airlines overseas if I can avoid it.
But mostly due to O'Hare.
