from fossil fuels...car companies are investing billions in new battery factories that will power their All-EV product lines...and oil companies have hired consulting firms to help them plot new future business strategies that don't involve refining fossil fuels.
When are you going to wake up and act accordingly? I'm going to miss the sound of a powerful gasoline engine, like my GTO of years past, but I'm not wasting time shoveling sand against the tide.
pissing in the wind. BTW, don't let it blow back on yr GTO muscle car, you lying bullshitter

EV charging stations...longer term, there will be discussions in D.C. over much larger amounts for this aspect of the transition away from fossil fuels (see link).
btw, in an area that I'm familiar with, much larger funding amounts have been approved for new 'GEN-IV' nuclear plant developments in Idaho (Nuscale's Small Modular Reactor), and Wyoming (GE/Hitachi's "Natrium" Fast Reactor)...these programs have been supported by both GOP and Democratic administrations...the obvious goal is more electrification which would then support not only the shift to EVs, but also the shift away from FFs for "Process Heat" related industries.
And you should note that this isn't just a fad in the U.S....virtually every car company in the world is planning its production around EVs by the mid-2030s...and since transportation represents such a large portion of oil usage, the worldwide O&G industry is grappling with a changing future...the world's energy sources are inexorably changing in response to the market and there is no way that's going to stop.

referencing? has any ground been broken specific to the BBB plan? do you think nuclear and ev charging stations go up over night. you are clueless and myopic.
For the umpteenth time … it takes “Time” to get the needed changes in place…this why I’ve been meeting with my Congressman and his staff over this issue for years now…
First you have to get educated on the reasons why change is needed, then accept and adapt.

You will not see wholesale change in your lifetime. Perhaps not even your grandchildren. It's not practical. Companies pander and virtue signal to consumers too.
Do you have an EV?
"Massive" EV battery plant in Europe...every major car maker is planning to go fully "EV" by the 2030s...Bi-Partisan Infrastructure support for charging stations throughout the U.S. has been approved.
Note what started this thread...O&G companies are not investing in new refineries...there's a fast approaching reason for that...wake up.

If not what do you drive. But you can’t lie like you usually do.
with the advent of more charging stations and EVs that have greater ranges, the biggest impediments to our embracing of EVs are being removed...
Even one of my weekly nuclear 'vet' Zoom Call buddies who has a Tesla takes his gas powered vehicle on long trips right now...fortunately, these developments in EV technology are coming to fruition and very likely the reason the auto industry is bullish on the EV future.
This transition will gather speed and people will join in at different rates for different reasons, but it will not stop...of course there will always be those who come 'kicking and screaming', but that's just human nature.
We will not see EV acceptance in our lifetime
What is the acceptance rate now? Less than 2-3%?
I admit I would love to have one because there are some nice ones out there and I love the horsepower.
The new Lucid Air is sweet.
But the idea of going on a road trip and spending 30 minutes every 250-300 miles to charge is ridiculous. People will not accept that.
IMO the future will be here sooner than you'd expect...let's all get behind the two reasons for this change in energy sources...
>Climate Change
>'Husbanding' our very finite Fossil Fuels for critical needs other than heat and power.
Personally, for the 'Forward Thinkers', I believe there are tremendous ($$) opportunities out there...and for those slow to move...sizable risk.

My brother in law has a Tesla and has never left a 50 mile radius of his house with it. They take the gas powered vehicle for any road trips.
LA to Vegas in 130 degree weather? Good luck!
way to get rid of fossil fuels. He says 5-10-20 years of fossil fuels. Every refinery in the US will be closed by then.
I would invest in long extensions cords to power your EV. He has never put a number on the price of petroleum and what it will do to this country’s economic future. Can the US survive $15-$20 per barrel waiting for the transition?
The devil is in the details. He’s a true believer which makes him a crackpot.
JFC you are obtuse.
I won't leave you hanging...virtually every nation on earth knows we can't keep using Fossil Fuels forever...the transition has started...it's going to be 'difficult'...especially for those that totally depend on them for their profits.
You can yell and scream all you want, but the "die is cast"...hopefully, you'll come to realize this and adapt.
JFC you are obtuse.
We'll be exclusively EV in 8 years!!! Or 10. No make that 20. You know after second thought....,
But Ty thinks Biden is gonna get a square deal from the saudis too. Foolish and naïve. San Francisco hippie flowers in their hair nonsense. Won't happen in his grandkids life time.
and the trend will only increase...
Embrace the change...only a "Luddite" would oppose something so obviously necessary.
Make the hippies and do gooders feel good about themselves. Superior to the commoners.
with their investments.
Your bubble ain't the rest of the world. That's fantasy land pal.
EIA's data that shows less than 50 years of proven global oil reserves remaining...what justification do you have for believing that will happen?..

dedicated to going green. how much starvation and worse will happen in those 10 years?
hinted that it would...but it has begun and the sooner we implement the needed infrastructure (e.g. more Nuclear and Renewable power sources...charging stations, etc.) the sooner we'll be able to stop incinerating precious fossil fuels that are vital for so many other uses.
You're a bullshitter. A fool. A liar.

If it's true in Los Altos, it's true all over the world.
Ty is the perfect picture of privilege.
you can read the linked article, or remain in the dark...your choice. I can guarantee you that the CEOs of every Oil & Gas company has been paying attention to such articles, and the advice of numerous consultants...they too are part of that "Bubble".
Don't be purposefully ignorant.

Companies do it all the time. Look at Disney and the gays and other freaks. Didn't work out so hot. You overestimate.
Beijing, Moscow New Delhi Rio tell Los Alotians to go fuck themselves.
228 nuclear reactors in development...now why on earth would they do that if they thought 'Fossil Fuels' were the way to go?
Think, Stark...Think!

Look at the rest of the countries "commitment" to nuclear. Think Tyrone think.
About something other than puppies and grooming toddlers.
up China in defense of your contention that other big players weren't going to shift away from fossil fuels...what's your answer to that obvious dichotomy?
They ain't jettisoning FFs anytime soon. It's not for the health and welfare of the climate. It ain't for electric cars. So pretty little trees can grow on Haight and Ashbury.
"Amid efforts to pivot to cleaner energy, China has emerged as the world’s single largest investor in clean energy transition. In 2021, China invested $266 billion in energy transition measures, accounting for more than one-third of the global total ($755 billion). The United States invested the second-largest amount, at $114 billion, followed by Germany ($47 billion), the United Kingdom ($31 billion), and France ($27 billion)."
There's lots more info in the article...all of it is based on real data.
Bottom line...even China is moving away from fossil fuels in dramatic fashion...it won't/can't happen overnight, but that's what the future will be...the changes are happening right now as we speak...get ready.

It's not as inevitable as you'd like to believe.
Link: And this is just one
meantime, I'll address your post...
>I whole heartedly agree with the author's comments on land use for Renewables and their inherent variability, or "Load Factor" as the power industry refers to it...these are impediments that cannot be ignored and will definitely limit their applications.
>The foregoing is why I continue to champion the use of nuclear power...very high power density and therefore very low 'land use'...also, very high "Load Factor"..i.e. Availability...already proven to be consistently above 90%.
>The author is the CEO of an oil field services company...so he's focused on natural gas...to the exclusion of any beneficial use of Renewables, or even nuclear.
We need to stop incinerating our precious fossil fuels...we absolutely need them for many other uses, of which most can employ 'recycling' of them...now that we have alternatives for heating and power, we need to switch over to Renewables and lots more nuclear power plants.
