The vast majority of Americans don't understand how bad this is likely to become. We're so accustomed to having evrything we need, so it will be especially shocking to them when there are serious food shortages, blackouts, astronomical gas and home heating costs, insufficient medical supplies for critical treatments and procedures, huge burdens on the welfare system as Americans languish and more illegal aliens are welcomed, ever-growing crime rates and fewer people willing to be cops, greater loss of faith in the education system, rising addiction levels as they seek to legalize drug possession, and on and on.
If half of those things come to fruition, it will do damage that will take a generation or more to repair, and some institutions, like higher ed and the Fourth Estate, that will never recover.
