Starting to look at models to upgrade the wife's 2011 Toyota Highlander which has been a great vehicle.
Requirements: AWD, heated seats and steering wheel, 3rd row, remote start, leather.
To Hybrid or not to Hybrid?
Any suggestions?

it is the most reliable, comfortable, cost-effective (especially now with joe noballs' gas prices), mechanically sound machine we've ever owned. yes, it's a 2006, but there's no way to convince us there is a better suv out there. it also has heated seats, autoselect 4 wheel drive, third row seats, etc. there have been improvements in the technology over the past 16 years, i'm sure, but i'm not trading this gem for anything newer.
Yeah, I know it’s a mini-van, but it’s a great ride for the kids with a lot of room.

It is really nice, but we're thinking more SUV.

Or at least they used to be. Do they have awd yet?

Handled 9" of snow iin South Bend very well.
We've got like 120k miles on it, and I would buy another one.
We went through this twice in the last couple years and landed on the Pilot largely for space reasons. It’s close to a minivan and gets about 26-27 on the highway so it’s the best road tripper. That said, nothing beats an Ofyssey/Sienna for road trips from w space and comfort perspective.
BUT, if the third row is for overflow rather than regular usage, the Highlander might be the better bet. It’s a little more maneuverable and comfortable. If you keep the car for a period, then I’d go hybrid. The extra $2k won’t be an issue.
Styling wise, the CX9 was up there as was the Papisade. I felt the Palisade had more rear room. But end of day, it came down to Pilot size & ride comfort versus Highlander drive ability and availability of hybrid.
All are reliable and decent resale.
I've been thinking we'll probably end up with another highlander, we looked at the pilots at the time we bought the highlander and I drive an F150, she didn't like that it felt like a truck. I've been eyeballing the Hyundai's

My wife drives a CRV, which is actually a great little SUV, and she is ok driving the new Pilot, and HATED my 4Runner. I loved the 4Runner - but 3rd row sucked.
Give it a whirl. All about keeping the wife happy sometimes.
He swears by it. He could have easily afforded more expensive makes.
Much more of a truck like feel
Highlanderis very nice looking vehicle
Daughter has CX-5 and has been very happy with it…can’t go wrong really with any of them
Challenge though will be the price you have to pay due to the lack of inventory…son paid MSRP for Palisades but it’s sister car, the Telluride from KIA was asking $7-8k OVER MSRP!!

My wife just got the GMC Acadia SLE. Very slick!

As with all of these vehicles, they changed from a V6 to a V4 with more turbo. But everything you need, nice comfort, space, and reliability. Holds it’s value well also. We had 2 of them over the years, not anymore.

Well made...but they price them accordingly. I like Toyotas, but I always feel like I can get a better deal elsewhere.
