If the Power Grid is failing now, how the hell is it going to handle the significant increases in usage caused by the move to electric vehicles and rechargable battery powered tools. This is truly 'The Gang that can't shoot straight'.................

not provide reliable power due to such things as brought out in the article. I am pleased that the Biden administration...and even the Trump admin...has supported development of highly reliable next generation ("GEN-IV") nuclear reactors...both Small Modular and 'Fast' designs. As this transition away from burning Fossil Fuels progresses, "Grid Level" power needs to come from a dramatic increase in the number of 'Nukes' installed...not an easy task...but as France demonstrated after the 1973 OPEC Oil Embargo, great things can be accomplished when a nation 'pulls together'.
We're going to need to establish a bi-partisan strategy that doesn't change depending on what party has control...on the 'Left' we need to make sure the "100% Renewables" crowd is minimized...as Biden did when he won the 2020 Democratic nomination...and on the "Right" it's vital that the Republican Party establishes an unwavering platform that marginalizes the "Climate Deniers" and "Fossil Fuels Forever" crowds.
I will say, that in regard to the "Renewables" issue, it would be foolish to not take advantage of such sources, provided their inherent variability's impact on "The Grid" is kept to a minimum. btw, what rarely, if ever, gets discussed is the enormous cost of backup storage for them if relied upon for 'Grid Level' applications...of course, land use is another major issue.
Let's all understand 'WHY' we're going through this transition and come together on our future energy mix...that will not only speed the process, but reduce unnecessary anxiety and angst.

It's amazing how some of your brains work.
Renewable generators like solar and wind generators are everywhere now. They are highly distributed, bidirectional, and mutable. They also operate on on and off line depending unexpected weather conditions. This kind of dynamics from renewable generation is too much for our power grids to handle. This is another typical unexpected consequence, man-made disaster.
