transition. Pushed to fast and hard on climate change while committing their energy future to Putin. Who would have thought that was a bad ideal where’s dumb ass Merkel.

Financng Putin only means a bigger war in the future.

'complicated' (see link)...their "Green Party" started in 1980 and associated NP with "War"...then Chernobyl happened...followed by Fukushima...no amount of explaining could shake them out of their made-up minds...maybe some day, but not tomorrow.
The existential threat of Putin and his ilk in Russia, along with deep awareness of Climate Change will harden Deutschlanders' resolve to ultimately shift away from Fossil Fuels, but they'll reluctantly use coal for as long as they have to...with fingers crossed on more LNG.

Fukushima was an example of how robust these plants can be. It survived a gigantic earthquake and devastating tsunami and I don't think a single person died because of the nuclear crisis.
Thousands were killed by the earthquake and tsunamis but everyone is absolutely terrified of the radiation that didn't kill anyone.
Now it looks like they won’t. Idiots.
The entire world should be running on nuclear power by now.
Most, if not all of my frustration wrt the liberal suck ass energy policy would be relieved. We need Wattage-it's that simple. And cutting the standard of living is NOT the answer. Producing more energy with either fossil fuels or preferably nuclear power built in intelligent locations (not on shorelines nor critical water supply, and not in geologically active areas) IS the answer.
PS - I saw that Canada FINALLY ok'd a new nuke plant for the Toronto area....but where did the idiots put it? On Lake Ontario which is part of and confluent with the greatest unfrozen freshwater resource in the world AND which is a very geologically active area. (The east side of Ontario has a lot of bedrock and quite a few earthquakes. Good idea - dumbass execution). Both are needed for it to work.
and not just with words...billions have been allocated for both "Fast" and "Light Water" reactors...in Wyoming and Idaho, respectively.
Regarding the one planned for Ontario, Canada (GE/Hitachi's BWRX-300...see link) . The beauty of that one is that the site was already established for 'CANDU' heavy water reactors that couldn't find an international market (whole 'nuther story), so gaining environmental approval won't be too difficult (e.g. water sourcing...seismic concerns, etc)...should be ready for operation as soon as 2028...btw, the Fukushima reactors were built by GE and survived the shaking of a 9.0 earthquake...that wasn't the issue with those plants (just needed to have their facilities built higher up (like the units that kept operating were).
A word to the wise...be careful in using the word "dumbass"...it could come back to bite you if you don't know what you're talking about.

formation. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so anti-nuclear. Also, they wouldn't be cutting off our own more cleanly produced oil that burns cleaner and replace it with dirty oil from our enemies which has to be shipped by tanker at huge carbon footprint cost on top of it.
They shut down a pipeline ready to go to instead transport it across oceans.
can implement an unopposed plan to build 228 nuclear reactors...plus we have entrenched Fossil Fuel industries with Senators and Representatives supporting them...along with "Renewable Advocates" who have their own set of Congressmen/Women that see only Solar/Wind/Hydro plants in the future...even though the math is clear, it's not easy to get those "Nukes" built...believe me...I know.
This transformation isn't some established 'script' that everyone adheres to...certainly not Vladimir Putin or the SARS=CoV-2 virus...keep the faith in nuclear (and a fair amount of Renewables, where appropriate), as we wean ourselves away from Hydrocarbons..."For Burning Applications"...there will be significant challenges along the way, but always keep the end goal in mind.
